A quick update regarding our 2026 Annual General Meeting.

Unfortunately, as we have not received any committee nominations, the AGM will be postponed by one week.

📅 New AGM date: Saturday, 5 September 2026
⏰ Time: 8:00 pm
💻 Location: Zoom meeting

To make it easier and more convenient for everyone, the AGM will now be held online via Zoom. Meeting details will be provided closer to the date.

Event Cancellation, for Winter Warrior round 1, 29th 30th of August

Hey everyone,

Unfortunately, we’ve got some not-so-easy news to share. As of 3:20pm today, Monday 24 August, this round will unfortunately have to be cancelled.

We were optimistic that entries would pick up, but with only six riders entered, the financial reality is that running the event would cost the club more than we would bring in. Unfortunately, we’d be looking at a loss, and we just can’t justify that financially for the club.

For everyone who has already entered, you have two options:

• Receive a full refund of your entry
• Have your entry credited towards the next round in late September

If you would like a full refund, please reach out to us and we’ll organise it for you.

We genuinely apologise to everyone who was looking forward to racing this weekend. These things happen, and unfortunately sometimes the numbers just aren’t there.

The good news is the show goes on! We’re already looking ahead to next month’s round and hope to see everyone back out on the water then.

Water Rescue Support 🌊🚤

Did you know the VJSBA has members with experience in water rescue?

Got an event coming up and need some extra assistance on the water? Reach out to us. We have an experienced crew with PWCs, rescue sleds, waterproof marine radios, tow ropes and, most importantly, the knowledge and experience to help out when needed.

We’re always happy to lend a hand, work alongside other clubs and help make events safer.

🦺 DON’T FORGET YOUR PPE! 🦺

With Winter Warrior Round 1 coming up this weekend, here’s your reminder about Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

All entrants MUST have their approved PPE on them at all times while training or racing:

🏁 Approved race helmet
🛡️ Spinal/back protector
🦺 Australian-approved PFD or race-approved PFD
👟 Enclosed footwear — NO barefoot riders

🪖 HELMET SAFETY REGULATIONS

If you have an all-matte or jet-black helmet, we will be applying high-vis tape to it before you enter the water.

You have been warned! This is a safety requirement to ensure riders are clearly visible on the water.

🚫 NO downhill mountain bike helmets.

Your PPE must meet the current applicable standards and must be in good working condition and appropriate for PWC racing.

🔦 WATERPROOF TORCH EXEMPTION

A reminder to Victorian riders:

You are not required to carry a waterproof torch on your PWC during the weekend of this event, as we have an exemption in place for participating PWCs.

However, we strongly recommend bringing one with you. Leave it in your car or with your gear — it just doesn’t need to be carried on the PWC.

⚠️ Please check your PPE BEFORE arriving at the event.

Don’t get caught out at scrutineering. Make sure you have everything you need and that your equipment is compliant, suitable and ready to race.

⚠️ Friendly Reminder Winter Warrior round 1, 29th 30th of August Next Weekend

Safe Transport Victoria will be on site next weekend conducting a routine event audit.

Please remember to:

• Bring your current Marine Licence with PWC endorsement and keep it safe and accessible.

• Expect ST Vic to ask to see your licenceplease don’t be offended, this is a routine compliance check.

• Please cooperate if they ask to inspect your PFD/life jacket, helmet, scrutineering sticker or other safety equipment.

These audits are a normal part of our events and help ensure we're operating safely and within our event exemptions.

Declaration of boating activity exemption

⚠️ IMPORTANT EVENT UPDATE, ENTRY CUTOFF THIS SUNDAY

The committee held a meeting last night regarding the upcoming Winter Warrior Round 1, and unfortunately, due to the current number of entries, we’ve had to make a difficult decision.

We are setting an entry cutoff of this Sunday.

This will give us the certainty we need to determine whether the event can realistically go ahead. If entries remain too low, the committee will have no choice but to consider cancelling the event due to the significant financial costs involved in running a race weekend and the risk of putting the club under unnecessary financial burden.

We genuinely don’t want to see the event cancelled, and we know this isn’t the news anyone wants to hear. Unfortunately, the costs of running these events don’t change whether we have 20 riders or 50 riders.

So, if you’re planning on racing, please get your entry in before Sunday. 🙏

This decision is not personal and it’s certainly not aimed at anyone. It’s simply about making the responsible decision for the financial future of the club and making sure we don’t put the club in a position where one event creates a significant financial loss.

We apologise that we’ve had to go down this pathway, but we need to make the call based on the numbers we have.
