Ambassador Gerard McGurk met Kosovo Judicial Council Chairman Rrustem Thaqi to congratulate him on his recent appointment and reaffirm the OSCE Mission support.

McGurk welcomed the continuity of the Council's work and underlined that sustainable funding is essential for a resilient judiciary and lasting reform.

Ambassador also noted that OSCE Mission in Kosovo's trial monitoring contributes to greater judicial efficiency.

📌As part of its efforts to promote dialogue between different communities, implemented a local dialogue initiative with NGOs from Lipjan/Lipljan and Mitrovica/Mitrovicё North.

🤝Together with NGO Union of Kosovo Social Workers (UPSK) and NGO In Time, Kosovo Albanian, Serb, Croat and Roma community members took part in two dialogue sessions, focusing on:
👥intercultural communication between diverse communities and
📱communication in the digital age.

Participants also visited the cultural and historical sites in both municipalities and finalised the sessions with a workshop focused on creating a social media campaign against misinformation.

It looks like meaningful conversations, inspiring speakers, practical workshops, new friendships, and a space where you can challenge perspectives, including your own.

The Dialogue Academy brings together 24 young women from the areas of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo and the OSCE Mission to Serbia for a unique learning experience focused on dialogue, leadership, gender equality, and peacebuilding.

🤝The Mission supported the Ombudsperson Institution (OI) to discuss the implementation of the recommendations addressed to municipalities in Pejë/Peć region.

Ombudsperson Naim Qelaj, Mayor of Pejë/Peć, Gazmend Muhaxheri, and representatives of Decan/Dečane, Junik, Klinë/Klina and Istog/Istok municipalities reflected on the status of implementation, challenges and needs to improve the level of recommendations implemented.

Open and ongoing dialogue among municipalities, other institutions and civil society organizations creates opportunities to identify and address challenges, strengthen trust, and improve public services.

💬Director of the OSCE Regional Centre in Pejë/Peć, Cristiano Barale, highlighted that “Bringing together representatives from local and central levels helps improve communication, clarify responsibilities and strengthen local and regional co-ordination.”

📝The OI recommendations are not merely technical suggestions; they are essential guidance for improving governance, preventing discrimination and aligning institutional practice with international human rights standards. OI recommendations are also an opportunity for municipalities to build trust, improve services and ensure that policies reflect the needs of all communities.

Through collaboration, municipalities can create lasting changes that have positive impact on communities.

📝 The OSCE Mission in Kosovo held this week an advanced training on multidisciplinary approaches to assisting victims of trafficking throughout all phases.

Delivered to 16 professionals from the Kosovo Police, Centres for Social Work, the Victims' Advocacy and Assistance Office, and shelters for victims of trafficking, the training strengthened their capacities to apply victim-centred and trauma-informed approaches through practical exercises and cross-institutional collaboration. 👥

🛡️ By promoting closer co-operation among key anti-trafficking institutions and identifying practical recommendations to improve institutional procedures, we contribute to strengthening the protection, assistance and long-term support available to victims of trafficking in Kosovo.
