Imagine diving into a WWII shipwreck and finding its medical supplies still scattered throughout the wreck more than 80 years later…

The Medical Supplies dive on the SS President Coolidge takes you into one of the most fascinating parts of this 200m-long WWII wreck.

When the Coolidge sank in 1942, it was carrying the entire Pacific reserve of quinine, an essential anti-malarial drug at the time. More than 250,000 doses went down with the ship.

As the wreck settled on the seabed, the quinine floated out of its storage areas and became trapped against the ceilings and inside different parts of the ship. Today, remnants of this historic medical cargo can still be found throughout the Coolidge.

It’s an incredible reminder that the Coolidge wasn't simply transporting soldiers — it was carrying vital supplies for the Allied war effort across the Pacific.

With the wreck stretching around 200m and resting at depths from approximately 15–70m, there are numerous dive plans for different certifications and experience levels.
