Eight months ago, was recovering from a serious motorcycle crash.

Multiple broken ribs. A severely injured shoulder and hip.

Five months of rehabilitation and strength training later, he's preparing for a motorcycle trip across Mongolia.

The goal was never simply to recover.

The goal was to get back to the life he loves.

This is what rehabilitation is really about.

Getting your life back.

Everyone making barefoot shoes is chasing the gym crowd.

Nobody's making them for the office - until Birchbury.

First casual shoe in years that didn't feel like my foot was locked in a box. Wide toe box, thin flexible sole - it still moves the way it's built to.

Barefoot isn't a fitness category. It's how your foot's supposed to work.

Thank you Matthew Tran for taking care our bare feet.

Stop chasing passive stretches—load your hips under fatigue instead. 💥

Combining a heavy concentric pre-exhaust with an eccentric-focused sumo squat is one of the fastest ways to force your hip adductors into active length while building bulletproof mobility.

Why this combo works:

Concentric Quad Pre-Exhaust (Heavy Sled/Prowler Push): Blasts the anterior chain without causing eccentric muscle damage. By tiring out the primary knee extensors, you eliminate quad-dominant compensation during the squat.

Eccentric Sumo Squat: Transition immediately into a wide sumo squat with a 3–5 second tempo on the descent. With fatigued quads, the adductor magnus and deep hip stabilizers are forced to take on the eccentric load through maximum range of motion.

The Protocol:

Prowler Push: 15–20 meters heavy (high effort, fast concentric)

Tempo Sumo Squat: 5–8 reps (3–5s negative, 1s pause at the bottom, drive up)

Rest: 90–120 seconds between rounds | 3–4 total sets

Focus on pushing the knees out inline with your toes and pulling yourself down into the stretch rather than just falling into it.

Sciatic Nerve Glide
Segmental Flexion & Extension (Cat-Camel)
Spinal Rotation
Guided Spinal Control

📅 Week 2: Control & Stability
Dynamic Core Control
Movement Isolation (Single-leg Bridge)
Increased Complexity (Bird-Dog)

📅 Week 3: Loaded Progression
Externally Loaded Anti-rotation
Complex Core Control (Bear Crawl Taps)
End-range Articular Rotations
Core Force Transfer

📅 Week 4: Advanced Strength & Confidence
Advanced Core & Dynamic Control
Rebuilding Spinal Flexion Confidence

🚨 THE ACL COMEBACK: Rebuilding More Than Just Strength 🚨

When a high-level athlete undergoes ACL surgery, the goal isn't just to heal the knee. The goal is to rebuild the absolute confidence required to compete at the highest level again.
Here is what the real work looks like behind the scenes:
✅ Consistent, targeted strengthening to protect the joint.
✅ Rebuilding neuromuscular control for explosive movements.
✅ Overcoming the mental hurdles and learning to trust the body again.
Rehab can be a lonely, frustrating process, but the payoff—standing back on the line, hearing the whistle, and playing without fear—is worth every bit of the grind.
📌 Save this post to remind yourself what you're fighting for on the tough days!

Building Power in a sport like Taekwon-Do is often overlooked. The physical aspect of a power generation is just as important as the technical literacy.
Build up over time will also vary depending whether we train off season or in season.
Here we maximize output by adding stimulus prior to the actual drill, while minimizing the fatigue and a risk of injury in the young athlete.

🧠 Train the mind, the body will follow.

Alex (Former European Cup Champion & Team Vietnam World Championship athlete) breaks down how mental visualization completely transformed his patterns training. Next stop for Alex: His World Cup debut in Benidorm, Spain 🇪🇸 this September!

Did you know? A study in the Journal of Sports Sciences showed that visualization can improve muscle coordination by 30%! 📈

Because the brain 🧠 struggles to tell the difference between a vividly imagined movement and a real one, visualizing your patterns literally rewires your subconscious and builds muscle memory before you even step on the mat. 🦾🥋

No more cold first rounds. No more leaving power on the table.

Drop a 🔥 to wish Alex luck at the World Cup!
