Message for Yoga Aspirants on the 12th International Day of Yoga🧘♀️🧘♂️
Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati has given a message to all the yoga aspirants around the world on the occasion of the 12th International Day of Yoga.
Hari Om Tatsat Hari Om Tatsat Hari Om Tatsat
Greetings and Hari Om. To all the yoga aspirants around the world, as we come nearer to the International Day of Yoga. There is a global interest and excitement to practice yoga on 21st June. Today the world is practicing yoga asanas, but they are not living the yogic lifestyle. Yoga is not just a quick workout that you do for an hour and forget about it. It is a way of living with mindfulness, simplicity, discipline, positivity and clarity. Right now, the world does not need more information. It needs a change. It doesn’t need to rush. It needs balance. It doesn't need more ambition. It needs direction. That is where yoga becomes important for everyone who truly wants to learn it.
Start with yourself. Take a look at your own body, your own thoughts, your own emotions, your own breath, your feelings, what you say and how you act. Don't judge yourself or try to explain and justify yourself. Just become aware and awareness is the key of yoga. Try to practice a little every day. Make your practice regular, sincere and balanced. Do some asanas to make your body feel steady. Do some pranayamas to make your energies flow more smoothly. Do some mantras to clear the mind. Do some meditation to connect with inner peace. Do some seva to soften your ego. And do some swadhyaya to understand who you are and how you can contribute in the betterment of the self, the society and the world. Don't make yoga too complicated. Live it in a small everyday way. Eat with awareness. Speak with kindness. Work with focus. Rest with relaxation. Relate with compassion. Face challenges with courage. Do your duties with sincerity. That is practical yoga.
The goal of yoga is not to escape from life, but to make it better. A yogic person should feel more peaceful, more helpful, more balanced more creative, more responsible and more humble. If your yoga doesn't make you a better person, then it is not complete. Remember the three qualities: Head, heart and hands. Get clear thinking. Positive heart. And good skills in your hands. Think clearly. Feel good. Act. This is the foundation of yogic life. The world is going through tough times with tension, anxiety, stress, confusion, isolation and conflict. So every yoga aspirant has a responsibility. Keep peace within yourself. Create harmony in your family. Be sincere in your work. Offer kindness to others. Let your life be a small light of awareness. Do not wait for big experiences. Do not run after visions, powers or recognition. The real achievement in yoga is balance. The real sign of progress is simplicity, the real expression of spirituality is kindness. The real test of sadhana is how you live, how you speak, how you respond and how much happiness you are able to share with others.
Yoga is not for one country, one religion, one culture or one community. Yoga belongs to humanity. It is a gift for the evolution of human consciousness, practice it sincerely, live it naturally and share it lovingly. Be disciplined but not rigid. Be devoted but not narrow. Be active but not restless. Be spiritual but not separate from the world. Let yoga become your lifestyle. Let awareness become your companion. Let positivity become your strength. Let service become your expression. Let peace become your contribution to the world. This is the yoga which is needed today. I extend to you greetings on this special day for you to take a sankalpa, a resolve to live a yogic life.
