You've already seen what's within reach of Hanoi. Now let's talk about the other half of the bucket list: the central coast, where beaches, ancient towns, and the world's biggest cave all live within a few hours of each other.

Many players extend their trip south after the tournament, and honestly, it's worth it. Here's what's waiting:

𝟭. 𝗗𝗮 𝗡𝗮𝗻𝗴: the Golden Bridge held up by giant stone hands, the Dragon Bridge, marble mountains, and long stretches of beach.
→ About 1.5 hours by flight from Hanoi. A great first stop on a central Vietnam trip.

𝟮. 𝗛𝗼𝗶 𝗔𝗻: lantern lit ancient town, the Japanese Bridge, tailor shops on every corner, and basket boat rides through the coconut forest.
→ Just 30 to 45 minutes from Da Nang. Easy to pair together in 2 to 3 days.

𝟯. 𝗛𝘂𝗲: the old Imperial City, royal tombs, Thiên Mụ Pagoda, and a slower, more historic side of Vietnam.
→ About 1 hour flight from Hanoi, or 2 to 3 hours from Da Nang by car or a scenic train ride. Worth a day or two.

𝟰. 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗶𝗻𝗵: home to Phong Nha and Paradise Cave, and Son Doong, the largest cave in the world.
→ About 3 to 4 hours from Hue. If cave exploration is on your list, book months in advance.

𝟱. 𝗡𝗵𝗮 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴: island hopping, snorkeling, and the mud baths everyone talks about.
→ Best reached by a short flight rather than by road. Great for a beach recovery stop after tournament weekend.

𝟲. 𝗤𝘂𝘆 𝗡𝗵𝗼𝗻: quieter beaches, fewer crowds, and a laid back coastal town feel.
→ Also best by flight. A good pick if you want to skip the tourist crowds.

So whether you're flying in just for Hanoi Hat, or turning it into a full central Vietnam adventure afterward, the trip doesn't have to end when the tournament does.

Here's the thing about flying to Hanoi for a tournament: you're not just landing for a weekend of hucks and layouts. You're landing in the gateway to some of the most stunning terrain in Southeast Asia, and a lot of it is easier to reach than you'd expect.

Play hard on the pitch, then let Hanoi be your basecamp for exploring the north. Here's how the bucket list stacks up, from quick day trips to full add on adventures:

𝟏. 𝐍𝐢𝐧𝐡 𝐁𝐢𝐧𝐡: "Hạ Long Bay on land."
Boat rides through Tràng An's caves and karst peaks.
→ About 2 hours away. Great as a day trip, or stay 2 to 3 days if you want to slow down and explore more.

𝟐. 𝐇𝐚 𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐚𝐲: limestone karsts, overnight cruises, kayaking through the bay.
→ About 2.5 to 3 hours away. Ideal for a 1 to 2 day cruise before or after the tournament.

𝟑. 𝐒𝐚 𝐏𝐚: rice terraces, ethnic culture, Fansipan (Indochina's highest peak).
→ About 5 to 6 hours by car, or take the overnight train and wake up in the mountains. Worth it if you're staying a few extra days.

𝟒. 𝐇𝐚 𝐆𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐠: the legendary Đồng Văn Karst Plateau, iconic motorbike loop territory.
→ About 6 to 7 hours away. Best saved for a longer trip if you can extend your stay.
So whether you're flying in just for the frisbee or bringing your whole team for a trip around it, Hanoi Hat isn't just a tournament weekend. It's your excuse to see North Vietnam.
