Diving with Low Key is one of the most fun things you can do on the island! But did you know that you can also charter a boat with us for your "dry" days when you're not diving?
Be your own captain with a 16' Boston Whaler or 22' Axoper, or book a captained charter and let us handle everything! Check out Ocean Runner Powerboat Rentals USVI for information!

Thinking about getting certified? Here are the most common questions we get about our Open Water Course!
- How does it work?
There are three course components: eLearning, confined water dives, and open water dives. eLearning is done before coming to us, and then we take you through the confined and open water dives!
- How long does it take?
The eLearning takes about 15-20 hours for most people. The confined water dives are done over one morning, and the open water dives are done over two afternoons, for a total of three half-days with us.
- What if I don’t have enough time to finish?
That’s okay! You can complete your confined water dives before your trip with another PADI dive shop, or we can begin your training and write a referral to get your course finished at another PADI dive shop later! Referrals are good for one year.
- I have a medical history and I’m worried about diving.
All students fill out a medical questionnaire before joining us. This will determine if you have any conditions that you need to speak to a doctor about. If you do, you will take the form to your doctor and discuss whether or not it is safe to dive. Most people can dive!
- Do I need my own equipment?
Scuba diving equipment is all included! The only thing you need is a bathing suit, reef-safe sun protection, and a towel!
Have more questions? Give us a call at (340) 693-8999 and we’d be happy to help!

Meet the crew!
Dave joined the Low Key Watersports team after retiring from the U.S. Navy, where, as a Program Manager at Naval Air Systems Command, he supported foreign partner nations by delivering modified aircraft, training, and logistics for maritime security and search-and-rescue missions, including efforts to combat illegal fishing, human trafficking, and narcotics trafficking. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a master’s degree from The George Washington University.
With four generations of family ties to the Virgin Islands and childhood summers spent on St. John, Dave’s connection to the islands runs deep. A certified diver since 1989, he continued diving recreationally throughout his Navy career and became an instructor after returning to St. John. Today, he enjoys sharing his local knowledge, experience, and love of diving with guests at Low Key Watersports.
