Lightheart Sailing Charters came to the Virgin Islands from Marblehead, Massachusetts, where her captains, Peter Branning and his wife Martha Boston, bought their new Hanse 400 s/v Lightheart during the summer of 2008. They cruised the Eastern Seaboard, Long Island Sound and Chesapeake Bay, arriving
in Miami November 2008 where Lightheart was put into service with Lightheart Sailing Charters. Then, coming south to the Caribbean, Lightheart cruised from Miami to Tobago, exploring many islands along the way. We have now come back north to the Virgin Islands, which we have found to be among the best sailing and cruising grounds anywhere. Peter Branning is a US Coast Guard Captain, and a multi-level sailing instructor certified by the American Sailing Association. He has over 40 years racing, cruising and coaching sailing teams. He is also a commercial pilot, avid freediver and former Miami Beach lifeguard. He holds graduate degrees from the University of Florida and Nova Southeastern University. Peter and Lightheart are now available for private charters and sailing instruction. We teach to American Sailing Association standards and can work with beginners or experienced sailors.
