Replacing the former Charles Harwood Medical Center, the Donna M. Christian-Christensen Medical Complex represents a new chapter in healthcare for St. Croix. Designed from the ground up for healthcare delivery, with input from the people who do this work every day, the facility brings critical services together under one roof and creates a space built around the needs of the community it serves.
For Dr. Christiansen, the impact goes beyond a new building. It is about giving St. Croix a modern healthcare facility the community can rely on and be proud of.

Across the Charles Harwood Memorial Complex site, crews are actively building the foundation systems that will support the new public health facility. Foundation footings, walls and other critical structural elements are taking shape across multiple areas of the project to prepare the site for vertical construction.
Work is also continuing on site improvement efforts to support upcoming phases. The Consigli/Benton Joint Venture team remains focused on delivering a modern healthcare facility that will serve our St. Croix community for generations to come.

The former Central High School gymnasium has been demolished, marking a visible milestone in the transformation of the campus. As familiar structures come down, crews are preparing the site for the school’s next chapter.
Beyond the gymnasium, enabling work, removal of underground structures, site clearing, and excavation activities continue across the campus. Each milestone moves the project one step closer to delivering a modern learning environment for St. Croix’s students, teachers, and families.

In the second installment of our conversation with James Benton, he reflects on a mindset that has shaped JBC throughout its 20-year history: the work is never truly finished.

D. Hamilton Jackson Terrace is making exciting progress!
The final residential building is nearing completion, while work continues across the property to enhance community and recreational spaces.
A shoreline garden created by residents inspired the addition of a new community garden within the redevelopment. Designed with ADA-compliant raised planters and an accessible pathway near the playground and basketball court, the space will make gardening more accessible while creating opportunities to share knowledge, culture, and traditions.
We are proud to be part of a project that reflects the ideas and spirit of the community itself.

The future of construction is shaped long before graduation day.
This summer, we were proud to welcome interns representing universities across the United States, bringing fresh ideas, curiosity, and a shared passion for building better communities. From the jobsite to the office, they gained hands-on experience while working alongside professionals committed to mentoring the next generation.
