🏏 MATCH SUMMARY | OPENING PRACTICE MATCH

The Leeward Islands Tropical Wave Under-19 made an emphatic start to their weekend of preparation, cruising to a 191-run victory over the Antigua & Barbuda Under-19 team in the opening practice match at Rising Sun Cricket Ground on Saturday.

Batting first, the Tropical Wave posted a competitive 290 all out in 42.5 overs, led by an unbeaten 67 from Lawshorn Bergan, while Matthew Miller struck 56 and Kunal Tilokani added a quick-fire 41.

The Antigua & Barbuda Under-19 bowlers shared the wickets, with Kadeem Josiah (2/31), Isaiah Harris (2/19), Anthony Pierre (2/36) and Ondre Peters (2/36) each taking two wickets.

In reply, the hosts were dismissed for 99 in 20.4 overs, with Kadeem Josiah top-scoring with 28, followed by Ondre Peters with 18.

The Tropical Wave's bowlers then took complete control of the contest. Kasim Challenger starred with a brilliant 4 for 8, while Rondre Daniel claimed 4 for 19. Jaheem Clarke and Jathan Edward also chipped in with a wicket each as the visitors sealed a convincing victory.

The dominant performance set the tone for the remainder of the weekend, with the Tropical Wave showcasing their strength with both bat and ball in an impressive opening outing.

The squad will be boosted by the emergence of exciting young talents Tanez Francis and Kunal Tilokani, who both impressed with outstanding performances during last year's West Indies Under-17 Championship.

Leading the revival is newly appointed Head Coach Ian Tittle, who guided the Leeward Islands Under-17 team through an unbeaten campaign across all competitions. He takes over from Wilden Cornwall Sr. and will be assisted by Derol Thomas and Terry Adams, while Pernel "Roxy" Joseph has been appointed Team Manager.
