At Team New Breed Wrestling, we believe every wrestler has a story, and their journey is what makes this sport so special. Our wrestlers’ feedback, experiences, and growth matter to us because they help shape the culture we continue to build together.

Wrestling is hard. It challenges you physically, mentally, and emotionally. But the lessons learned on the mat—discipline, resilience, accountability, confidence, humility, and perseverance—can last a lifetime.

Behind every young wrestler who keeps showing up is often a parent making sacrifices, rearranging schedules, driving to practices and tournaments, and encouraging them through the tough days. That support makes all the difference. We are incredibly grateful for the commitment of both our wrestlers and their families.

🔥 This Week’s Testimonial: Alex Piceno | Age 10

Alex is new to Team New Breed Wrestling, but he has already brought nothing but fuel to his fire every practice.

He shows up with a positive attitude, an eagerness to learn, and a genuine desire to get better—qualities you simply can’t teach. Alex is also already setting an example for his fellow wrestlers. Whether it’s being the first to help clean up or stepping in to help however he can, he understands that being part of a team means contributing to something bigger than yourself.

Alex recently competed in his first wrestling tournament and placed 3rd! 🥉

That podium finish is a reflection of the hard work he has already put in, but we believe it’s only the beginning. We can’t wait to see what this wrestling season has in store for him. This is a season you’re going to want to watch!

🥇 TESTIMONIAL TUESDAY | COACH JAIRO CHAVEZ 🤼‍♂️

At Team New Breed Wrestling, we believe growth happens one wrestler, one practice, one lesson, and one journey at a time. Our wrestlers’ experiences and feedback are a key part of what helps our team continue to grow.

Because at New Breed, it takes a village — and we believe we have the strongest one around. 🖤💛

This week, we’re shining the spotlight on one of the people who has helped build that village from the very beginning:

🔥 COACH JAIRO CHAVEZ 🔥

Years ago, Jairo opened the doors to New Breed Wrestling alongside his younger brother, the late Jesus Chavez, and their older brother, Manuel Chavez. Together, the three brothers created a powerful trifecta — bringing experience, passion, dedication, and a commitment to developing wrestlers of all ages.

And Jairo’s accomplishments speak for themselves.

But perhaps one of Jairo’s greatest accomplishments is something that can’t be measured by a trophy or medal.

It’s the impact he has on the wrestlers who walk through the doors of New Breed.

Opening New Breed created an open door for kids of all ages who were ready to learn the art of wrestling — a place where they could work, struggle, improve, compete, and discover what they were capable of.

Today, Jairo’s journey has taken him around the world as he competes internationally in Kabaddi, but the New Breed family remains a priority. While Jairo travels and represents the sport on an international stage, his older brother Manuel continues to keep the doors open and the New Breed mission moving forward.

And through it all, this work continues through the sponsorship of The Jesus Chavez Foundation, created in honor and memory of their late brother, Jesus. ❤️

For our wrestlers, having a coach who has walked the same path makes a difference.

Someone who understands the early mornings.
The tough practices.
The losses.
The victories.
The sacrifices.
The moments when you have to decide whether you’re going to keep going.

Jairo has been on that journey — and now he gets to help the next generation navigate theirs.

🤼 TESTIMONIAL TUESDAY 🤼

Wrestling isn't for everyone. It is physically demanding, mentally exhausting, and requires a level of discipline that most people simply don't stick around long enough to build.The urge to quit happens in the darkest, most exhausted moments of training. Pushing through that temporary discomfort creates permanent strength. Quitting is easy. Staying the course? That takes true grit, relentless drive, and a special kind of heart.

That is exactly what Sim Sahota is made of.

"I hated every minute of training, but I said, 'Don't quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.'"— Muhammad Ali

At just 13 years old, Sim is already a veteran on the mat. He joined Team New Breed Wrestling when he was only five years old—and eight years later, he is still going strong. Over the years, his growth has been incredible to watch. He has stepped up to compete in SAWA tournaments, where he is consistently placing and bringing home hardware. Where is Sim off that mat? Putting in the hours at the gym, building his strength. While most are doing the bare minimum, Sim is stacking up his arsenal.

Beyond the medals, and the weights, Sim is the heartbeat of our practice room. He shows up every day with a smile and an eagerness to keep everyone's spirits high. He is a true staple at Team New Breed Wrestling, and the room simply wouldn't be the same without him.

With tournament season quickly approaching, watching Sim perfect his technique in practice leaves no doubt: he is sure to stack even more medals this season. When he steps onto the mat, you can bet Team New Breed will be the loudest ones in the gym cheering him on. We can't wait to see all that hard work pay off.

At Team New Breed Wrestling, we know that every wrestler’s journey looks different. Acknowledging each athlete's unique path—and actively listening to their feedback—is at the heart of how we build strong, confident competitors. Today, we are proud to spotlight one wrestler whose growth speaks for itself: Sienna Sahota.

Wrestling is widely considered one of the most physically and mentally demanding sports in the world. It requires an extraordinary blend of strength, endurance, agility, and mental toughness that sets it apart from almost any other athletic endeavor.

Sienna joined Team New Breed back in 2021. Over the years, she has poured endless hours into mastering her technique and building relentless confidence on the mat. That hard work translated directly into success when she joined the wrestling team at Barry Elementary School, taking home impressive 1st and 2nd place finishes.

She isn't slowing down anytime soon. With the SAWA season right around the corner, Sienna is preparing to fully commit to her very first tournament season. She is stepping onto the mat with fiery spirit, immense drive, and a focus on winning. From the massive growth she’s shown so far, the competition definitely needs to watch out for this rising star.

Team New Breed Wrestling will be right in her corner every step of the way!

At Team New Breed Wrestling, there is nothing more rewarding than hearing feedback from our wrestlers and their families. Wrestling isn’t just a sport—it’s a relentless, daily grind. It takes sacrifice, resilience, and an incredible amount of hard work to step onto that mat day in and day out. That’s why highlighting the personal journeys of our athletes means the world to us. Being even a small part of their growth gives our entire team immense pride!

This week, we are beyond excited to feature Malea Kibbe! 🌟

Malea’s story is proof that passion and pure work ethic can rewrite the playbook. Originally tearing up the dirt tracks in motocross, Malea found—and completely fell in love with—wrestling. Fast forward just two years, and she isn't just participating; she’s coming in with a absolute BANG.💥

Here’s a quick look at what hard work looks like:

The Foundation: Gained valuable experience with local clubs and her middle school team at Andros Karperos.

State Recognition: Wrestled for the SAWA 14U team in Fresno, helping them secure 2nd in Greco and 3rd in Freestyle!

Championship Belt: Took home both the District Championship and County Championship titles last year.

The Numbers: Finished an unbelievable tournament season with 15 Gold Medals, 14 Silver Medals, an astonishing 99-23 record, and pinned 78% of her opponents! 🤼‍♀️💥

Malea is living proof that being "new" to the sport doesn't hold you back when you're ready to put in the work. Up next, she’s taking her talents to the high school mat at River Valley, and we already know she’s going to make some serious noise. 🚨
