💙 IT’S THE LITTLE THINGS 💙

Trying a new food might seem like a small moment—but for some children, it can be a BIG accomplishment! 🥕🍓

Before a child is ready to eat a new food, they may need time to:
👀 Look at it
👃 Smell it
🤲 Touch it
👅 Taste it
…and eventually decide they’re ready to take a bite!

Food exploration is part of learning, and every step counts. There’s no need to rush. Giving children opportunities to explore food in a safe, positive way helps build comfort and confidence over time. 💙

So today, we’re celebrating the little wins...even when the “win” is simply touching something on the plate! 🙌

National Dog Day 🐶💙

Happy National Dog Day! 🐾

There’s just something special about the bond between a child and their best four-legged friend. Dogs can bring comfort, joy, confidence, and plenty of opportunities for connection, play, and learning. 💙

Today, we’re celebrating all of the pups who are part of our Connections families!

📸 SHOW US YOUR DOG + CHILD DUO!
Drop a photo in the comments of your little one with their favorite furry friend. We want to see them! 🐕❤️

Sometimes getting dressed is about more than getting dressed. 💛

A hat. Sunglasses. A necklace. A cape. Maybe three bracelets, mismatched socks, and an accessory that makes absolutely no sense to us....but makes perfect sense to them. 😊

When we give children opportunities to make choices about what they wear and add their own personal touches, we’re supporting creativity, independence, decision-making, confidence, and self-expression.

And there’s a little learning happening along the way, too! Adding accessories, pulling on clothes, fastening, buttoning, zipping, and adjusting things can be a fun way to practice dressing routines and fine motor skills...without it feeling like “work.”

Sometimes the best way to practice a new skill is to make it something a child actually wants to do.

So when your little one insists their outfit needs just ONE more accessory…let them explore. Let them create. Let them practice. And most importantly, let them be themselves. 💙

“I’m just resting my eyes…” 😴

Sleep is an important part of healthy development....but we also know that for some of our little friends, falling asleep, staying asleep, or settling their bodies for rest can be really hard. 💛

Every child’s sleep needs and patterns can look a little different.

When children get the rest their bodies need, it can support their ability to learn, play, regulate, communicate, and connect.

And for the families navigating those tricky bedtimes and middle-of-the-night wake-ups…we see you, too. 💙

Here’s to restful nights, successful naps, and celebrating the sleep wins.....whatever they look like!

Every child’s journey looks different....and that’s exactly how it should be.

In these early years, progress isn’t about comparing one child to another or checking boxes on someone else’s timeline. It’s about recognizing their strengths, their growth, and the little victories that are BIG victories for them.

Meet them where they are today.
Celebrate every step forward.
And always believe in what’s possible. 💙

At Connections, we’re honored to be part of the journey.

📸 Sometimes the BEST language tools are already in your camera roll!

Want to encourage more language at home? You don’t need fancy flashcards, expensive toys, or perfectly made communication books.

Use what your child already knows and loves. 💛

Make a little book with pictures of:
• Family members and friends
• Teachers and classmates
• Favorite toys or characters
• Pets
• Favorite foods
• Places you visit often

You can even save the wrapper or package from a favorite snack and add it to their book!

Then keep it simple: look, point, label, and talk.

“There's Grandma!”
“You love Goldfish!”
“Look, it’s your friend!”
“Daddy is wearing a hat.”

And remember....you don’t have to quiz them or ask them to repeat the words. Just model the language and enjoy looking together.

When something is meaningful to a child, there’s so much more to talk about. 💙
