Raceday recap from BAPS Motor Speedway
Tommy
Heat p6->p7
B-main p5->p5
Feature p23->p23
Very rough night, car just wasn't what we needed
Cole
Heat p3->p4
Feature p1->p21
Feature was HORRIBLE. Just dint have what we needed to finish well.
This past Saturday was definitely hard. We weren't really sure if we felt up to it with the sudden passing of our family friend Steve Witmer this past Thursday. With being Silver Spring night and knowing he would want us there we raced for him. Really wish we could have done better, but just glad we made it through.
Like to give congratulations to Presley Almoney on her 2nd place in the extreme stock feature!

It's raceday at BAPS Motor Speedway for the Silver Spring Speedway throwback night! Both Tommy and Cole will be in action tonight!
This week we posted family members that raced at the springs, but our driver did to! Not only did he spend every childhood Saturday night there he was able to race there one time in 2005 before its closing. He finished 3rd that night, trailing winner Gene Knaub and 2nd place Rick Reinoehl, 2 of the best in the division. Not bad for the 3rd year driver...

We are 1 day away from this Saturday's Silver Spring Speedway throwback night at BAPS Motor Speedway! Today's post is for our uncle Dale "Smokey" Frye! Dale started racing at the springs in 1983 in the blue #1 car! Smokey had many different rides over the years, but 1 thing seemed the same with all of them, good finishes. He grabbed his first victory at the springs in 1986! He was able to pick up a few wins for the different teams early on, but it was in 1991 when things picked up. Driving for his Brother Ronnie Frye in his new Ray Allen Race Car he was able to pick up 8 feature wins, 14 top 5s, 10 heat wins (most in division) , and the Paul Orendo 50 Lapper, all coming after July 20th! In 1992 he picked up right where he left off, driving for car owner Bill Wampler in his Ray Allen 1w he grabbed 10 wins at the springs including the 1992 track championship, he also picked up 4 more wins that season at surrounding tracks! As the dust settles Smokey finished his career at the springs with 26 career feature wins, the 1992 Limited Late Model Championship and the 1991 Paul Orendo Memorial 50 winner!

We are 2 days away from this Saturday's Silver Spring Speedway throwback night at BAPS Motor Speedway! Today's post is for Uncle Doug Frye! He competed at the springs in 1991 & 1992! His rookie campaign came driving for his brother Ronnie Frye in the #15. (The 15 came from Ronnies number 1, and Ed Hakes number 5) Tho unable to capture any wins that season he was always lurking near the front. In 1992 he got the call to drive for Mark Jordan in his #6 Ray Allen Chassis! With strings of bad luck that season he wasn't able to capture that glorious win at the springs he was looking for, but he was able to pick up a win at Bedford Speedway. A highlight from '92 was at the first race of the season, when he got tangled up on lap one of the feature and had to restart at the rear, when he drove from last to 2nd! He also finished a very strong 4th, in the Paul Orendo Memorial 50 lapper! As for racing at the springs thats about all she wrote for uncle Doug, between all the bad luck and misfortune the Limited Late Model Rookie showed speed, motivation, and consistency. The results may not show it, but he definitely has nothing to hang his head about!!
Geoff Bodine ran 2nd to Davey Allison in the #6 car in '92!

We are 3 days away from this Saturday's Silver Spring Speedway throwback night at BAPS Motor Speedway! Today's post is for our uncle Ronnie Frye! Ronnie owned cars at Silver Springs for many years till its unfortunate closing in 2005. Over the years he always had competitive cars that could win on any night. Ronnie tallied over 100 wins as a car owner as well as winning The Paul Orendo Memorial race not once, not twice, but SIX times over his car owning career! He also picked up the track title in 2000 & 2001 with driver Jason Covert! Nothing but success from the stable at Silver Spring Speedway!

We are 4 days away from this Saturday's Silver Spring Speedway throwback night at BAPS Motor Speedway! Today's post is for our Grandfather Sam Lauer who owned limited late models at the Springs and Susquehanna from 1985 to 1991. Pictured below is all his cars as well as all the drivers he had over the years! This Saturday all of his drivers will be in attendance signing autographs with the exception of Don Pifer, who is no longer with us.
1985 Don Pifer
1986 Carl Hughes and Craig Shover
1987 Craig Shover
1988 Craig Shover and Smokey Frye
1989 Harold Beinhower
1990 Harold Beinhower
1991 Mark Billet
Pap's biggest accomplishment in racing was getting a win at Silver Spring aswell as winning the Track Championship at Susquehanna Speedway in 1991! Pap and Randy Christine Sr. Co-owned the 40 car in '90 & '91. Excited to have our family owned #40 in action this Saturday keeping his number alive!
