Week Three - It Takes a Village

Before we roll through the timeline and strategy for bringing this abandoned golf course back to life, we salute the great community that was essential to her restoration as a fully functioning 18-hole golf club.

Mowing, Weedeating, Brush Burning, Chainsawing, Blowing, Tilling, Digging, Beer Running, Painting, Power Washing, Digging some more, Swimming.

This community didn't just pull for the home team - they were the team. This week’s update is a dedication to all those local diehards who were essential in this golf club's rebirth.

Week Two - Before Jasper, there used to be Sebastian Hills - 36 weeks to opening day
Designed as a rural destination links-style course, Sebastian Hills was built with big ambitions. Featuring six miles of concrete cart paths and greens constructed to USGA specifications, the course opened at a time when the Tiger Woods era was fueling a surge in golf’s popularity.
The timing seemed perfect.
But over the years, economic headwinds—including the uncertainty surrounding Y2K and, later, the 2008 housing and stock market crash—created one challenge after another.
Despite the promise it was built with, too many bumps in the road eventually took their toll. What began as an ambitious destination golf course slowly faded, ultimately closing after the 2017 season.
But that wasn’t the end of the story.
