Massachusetts Rifle Association - "America's Oldest Active Gun Club" Mass. Rifle Association is America's oldest active gun club, conveniently located near rtes 93 and 128 in Woburn, MA with much to offer and great members.

The Massachusetts Rifle Association (MRA) - also known as "Walnut Hill" - is the oldest active gun club in America. The club is located in Woburn, MA near the intersection of routes 93 and 128. Facilities include:

-100/200 yard outdoor rifle range
-50 yard range outdoor pistol/rifle range
-50 foot outdoor pistol range
-Trap and Sporting Clays range
-Archery Range.
-Indoor 50 foot gallery / smallbore range with 24/7 access
-Indoor 25 yard indoor pistol/rifle range with 24/7 access

THERE IS SPACE STILL AVAILABLE, BUT YOU MUST REGISTER IN ADVANCE.

If you're a woman over 21 and haven't shot in a while or if you've never shot before and want to find out what it is like to shoot a pistol, rifle and/or shotgun, or are just in the mood to try something safe, fun and different, this day is for you.

WHO:
Any woman 21 and over interested in trying fi****ms for the first time or learning more about the shooting sports in a safe, friendly and low pressure environment.

WHAT:
A day of safe fun. We'll start with mandatory, brief safety instruction in proper fi****ms handling followed by range demonstrations and coaching while you get to shoot airguns, pistols, rifles and a shotgun. All fi****ms and ammunition will be will be provided as well as lunch and a drawing for a free Basic Fi****ms Safety Course (a $150.00 value) from our State Police certified Instructors as well as other prizes donated by Four Seasons Fi****ms in Woburn and others. Discounts on membership will be available for those wishing to join the MRA. Space is limited and advance registration is required.

WHEN:
Saturday September 26, 2026 from 8:00 am sharp (mandatory safety briefing) through mid afternoon (to allow everyone a chance to try each event).

You MUST sign up in advance.

DEADLINE:
ALL applications must be received no later than September 12, 2026 but please be advised that we usually fill up well before the deadline.

COST:
$45.00 per individual or bring a friend or family member and pay only $80.00 for the two of you. Fee will help defray cost of materials provided including ammunition, targets and lunch.

Space is limited in order to provide both the maximum amount of range time and appropriate coaching. Reservations will be filled on a first come, first served basis. If you wish to attend with a friend it is suggested that you submit your applications together.

HOW:
You can either go to our website www.massrifle.com , go to fi****ms safety training and print off an application and send it in or stop by the club on a Sunday morning or Wednesday evening and speak to one of our office volunteers.

As we celebrate Independence Day, we are reminded of the traditions, craftsmanship, and freedoms that have helped shape our country.

For 150 years, the Massachusetts Rifle Association has helped preserve and advance the tradition of American marksmanship. Founded in 1875 by Civil War veterans, the MRA is the oldest continuously operating gun club in the United States.

From its historic home at Walnut Hill, generations of members, competitors, volunteers, innovators, and shooting enthusiasts have helped shape the future of marksmanship. Walnut Hill has played an important role in the development of modern rimfire shooting, fi****ms research, and competitive shooting in America.

To commemorate that legacy, the MRA partnered with Henry Repeating Arms to create the limited-edition MRA Sesquicentennial Golden Boy rifle.

Built on Henry’s iconic Golden Boy platform, this special edition honors the MRA’s founding in 1875, the enduring legacy of Walnut Hill, and the generations of members who have carried the Association’s mission forward.

Each rifle is built to order, and a portion of every sale is returned to the MRA in support of our mission to promote the shooting sports in a safe and friendly environment.

The Massachusetts Rifle Association community is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Edward George, a Life Member, Counsel to our Board of Directors, and friend.

Edward was a passionate advocate for the shooting sports, youth shooting programs, and a strong supporter of our community for many years. He was also a longtime member of the MRA Pistol Team and brought back the "Chevalier Ira Paine Pistol Match" honoring a notable marksman and member from the 1880s.

His dedication, voice, and commitment to preserving and promoting the traditions of responsible fi****ms ownership will not be forgotten and service as an enduring legacy.

Our thoughts and condolences are with his wife Janet, and his family, his many friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Rest in peace, Ed.
