What started as an albacore trip off Ilwaco, Washington, turned into a catch for the record books. Captains Robbie Norman and Danny Schenk were aboard Four Sea’Sons when a striped marlin suddenly crashed the spread roughly 45 miles offshore, launching a blistering run and nearly emptying a reel packed with 80-pound braid.

After a hard-fought battle, the crew landed the exceptionally rare Pacific Northwest visitor, which later weighed 151 pounds on certified scales. If officially approved by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, the fish would eclipse the longstanding 134-pound state record set in 2005.

In this exclusive Marlin interview, Norman and Schenk take us inside the hookup, the chaos, the chase and the moment they realized they had just landed one of the most extraordinary catches ever made off Washington.
