Italia Performing Arts Premier dance school in the northern Shenandoah Valley of VA. Ballet & dance classes for all ages. At Italia Performing Arts, we dance the elegance of Italy.

We specialize in the Cecchetti approach to classical ballet while also offering dance classes in a wide array of other styles including Acro, Tap, Jazz, and Lyrical & Modern. The art of dance has been a passion for Italia’s founder & CEO, Lorenza Manara Marchi, all her life. Born and raised in Florence, Italy, surrounded by the beauty of the classical art of Michelangelo, Botticelli, and Leonardo da Vinci, Miss Lorenza started her dance training early, learning the Italian style of classical ballet called the Cecchetti Method. Eventually, her studies took her to England, where she met her husband, Peter Kirk. In 2012, they moved to the northern Shenandoah Valley with the intention of bringing classical and Romantic-era ballet and dance to the area, and today all of Italia’s students benefit from Miss Lorenza’s expertise and training. Our classes are designed to benefit students whether or not they go on to study dance professionally. By offering a nurturing environment and programs based in classical techniques, we enable our students to blossom into superior performers. We are pleased to serve Winchester and the northern Shenandoah Valley, with studios in both Winchester, VA and Woodstock, VA.

Whether you're participating or attending, this festival promises an unforgettable experience filled with exceptional performances and opportunities for growth and connection within the dance community.

Cecchetti was connected to some of the most influential figures in ballet history.

Enrico Cecchetti wasn’t simply a teacher of ballet—he was a teacher to generations of dancers who would go on to shape the art form itself.

His influence reached some of the greatest names of the early 20th-century ballet world, including dancers such as Anna Pavlova, Vaslav Nijinsky, and Serge Lifar, as well as countless artists who carried his principles into the next generation.

And perhaps most remarkably, Cecchetti’s influence wasn’t just about steps.

He developed dancers with an understanding of technique, musicality, coordination, épaulement, artistry, the intelligence behind movement, and organizing movements into days of the week.

That philosophy continues today.

When a dancer studies the Cecchetti Method, they aren’t simply learning choreography—they are becoming part of a living legacy of ballet education.

From the great stages of the past…
