Hoopers Select VA presents our 2026–27 Preseason Top 30 Boys Basketball Players from VHSL Classes 2A–6A.

This isn’t simply a recruiting ranking. Our preseason rankings are built primarily around what players PROVED on the high school floor during the 2025–26 season, while also factoring in postseason success, honors, summer evaluation, recruiting and what we project for the upcoming season.

Our rankings considered:

📊 40% — 2025–26 High School Production
🏆 25% — Winning, Postseason Performance & Honors
🔍 20% — Scouting, Recruiting & Summer Evaluation
📈 15% — Projected 2026–27 Impact

👑 Dereck Batiz Lugo — Central-Woodstock opens the year at #1 after an outstanding junior season that ended with VHSL Class 2 Player of the Year honors and a trip to the state championship game.

But remember…

This is the starting point — not the finish line.

Every player in Virginia has an opportunity to earn their way onto the board, move up the board, or prove us completely wrong. What happens on the court in 2026–27 will determine where this list goes next. 👀

Coach Hudnall 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

As a 2007 Sherando graduate and former basketball player for the Warriors, Bobby Hudnall Jr. was part of a high school enviroment in which Clarke County's boys' basketball team won

Clarke County has got themselves a good one, we’ve seen over the years the work Coach Hudnall puts into these kids. A real program builder and winner. The future is bright 🧡💙

Clarke County High School has named Bobby Hudnall Jr. the next Boys Basketball Coach after the departure of Kent Auslander.

Hudnall has had coaching experience at the middle school level as well as travel and has been on staff with Central High School and Clarke County. Hudnall most recently served as an assistant under Regina Downing with the Sherando Warriors, Hudnall now returns to Clarke County as Head Coach of the Boys Basketball Program.

“This has literally been a dream and a life-time goal of mine. Beyond grateful and appreciative to Clarke County for believing in me, trusting me, and giving me the opportunity to lead this program. I don’t take this opportunity lightly, and I’m ready to give everything I have to our players, our program, and the Clarke County community.” Hudnall said in a social media post.

🏀 FROM HOOPERS SELECT VA TO THE VARSITY SIDELINE 🏀

Hoopers Select VA is proud to announce that our founder, Coach Bobby Hudnall, has officially been named the Head Boys Varsity Basketball Coach at Clarke County High School! 🦅🏀

For Coach Hudnall, this opportunity represents a full-circle moment.

His high school coaching journey began at Clarke County, where he served as an Assistant Varsity Girls Basketball Coach. From there, he continued his journey as the JV Girls Head Coach/Assistant Varsity Girls Coach at Central High School, followed by serving as an Assistant Varsity Girls Coach at Sherando High School.

At the middle school level, Coach Hudnall spent multiple seasons leading the girls program at Robert E. Aylor Middle School, highlighted by an undefeated championship season.

Throughout that journey, his mission has remained bigger than wins and losses.

That same passion for player development and creating opportunities for young athletes led to the creation of Hoopers Select VA—providing training, competition, leagues, events, exposure, mentorship, and opportunities for basketball players throughout our community.

Now, the journey comes full circle.

Coach Hudnall returns to the place where his high school coaching career started—this time with the opportunity to lead the Clarke County Boys Basketball Program.

This isn’t the finish line.

It’s the beginning of another chapter.
