In recent years we are learning more and more about what exactly a healthy diet entails. Contrary to belief you CAN give your child the "fun foods" they desire while promoting healthy eating. In fact, it's encouraged to teach your child healthy eating habits and that includes NOT discouraging foods that are maybe less healthy but instead teaching them that they CAN enjoy them, in moderation.
Studies show that strict dieting isn't sustainable for long term success ESPECIALLY in children. Let's bust some come Myth's that may surprise you:
Myth 1: Carbs are bad for you.
Fact: Carbohydrates are an essential part of a balanced diet. Whole grains, fruits, and vegetables provide vital nutrients and energy. It’s all about choosing the right kinds!
Myth 2: Eating fat makes you fat.
Fact: Healthy fats (like those from avocados, nuts, and olive oil) are important for brain health and can help keep you full. Moderation is key!
Myth 3: Kids need to avoid sugar completely.
Fact: While excessive sugar is unhealthy, small amounts can fit into a balanced diet. Focus on providing nutrient-rich foods and limiting sugary snacks and drinks.
Myth 4: All processed foods are unhealthy.
Fact: Not all processed foods are created equal. Some, like frozen fruits and vegetables or whole grain bread, can be nutritious and convenient options.
Myth 5: You should drink only fruit juice for vitamins.
Fact: Whole fruits provide fiber and nutrients that juice often lacks. Eating a variety of fruits and vegetables is the best way to get vitamins.
