This isn’t news to us, but we’re glad the word is spreading!

U.S. NEWS: Wearable floaties are often marketed as learn-to-swim aids for toddlers. Some even carry “Coast Guard approved” language—but parents and researchers worry they can create a false sense of safety and don't teach children to swim. Read more at the link in comments.

We couldn’t agree more.

In his recent “Letter from the President,” AAP President Dr. Andrew Racine reminds pediatricians and parents that drowning prevention should start early. "We must embrace the mindset that all children should learn to swim – and they should start early,” said Dr. Racine.

In addition to swim lessons, the AAP recommends using several layers of drowning prevention including pool fences, life jackets and close adult supervision around water. Read his full remarks in AAP News: https://bit.ly/4gEIUpq
