SWIM WITH AN OLYMPIAN

•  Open to all Wilmington Swim League swimmers

What swimmers get:
•  A technique clinic run by the Olympian
•  An open Q&A where they can ask an Olympians anything
•  The chance to actually race an Olympian
•  Photos and autographs

How to register: families declare their swimmer attending in Swimmingly Clubhouse. That is it.

This night exists because the Wilmington YWCA earned it through their summer media submissions, and because Bobby and UNCW opened their facility to us. The Summer Hawks are hosting.

One note on Cullen: alongside his Olympic career he has spent years on water safety and swim access through Make a Splash, which is worth mentioning to your families. This is not just a fast swimmer showing up — it is someone who has built a career around getting kids into the water safely.

The event is capped at 100 spots and will likely fill before Saturday. Sign up today!

Format: Q&A with the Olympian and Swimmingly leadership, then clinic time decided by the Olympian (starts, freestyle technique, turns, race skills, etc), then fun meet events to close — where swimmers race the Olympian. Photos and autographs at the end and at check-in.

Swimmers bring suit, goggles, towel, water bottle, team cap, and dry clothes.

We’re closing on a second Olympian this week that will get in the water with the swimmers.

This night exists because the Wilmington YWCA earned it through summer media submissions. There will be a recognition moment for the YWCA in the opening, plus a YWCA-only photo with the Olympians.

The YWCA goes first. The Barracudas and the Summer Hawks registration opened today ahead of the rest of the league. The rest of the Wilmington Swim League opens tomorrow, so your families have a head start on the 100 spots.

RECORD ALERT!
That’s how you finish a season! Congratulations to our 6 & under Freestyle Relay! Swimming not only a YWCA record but a 26 year old Wilmington Swim League record with a time of 1:23.78.

In the summer of 2025, Brynn Miles not only broke the 13-14 girls 50 yard backstroke record once, but three times! On 6/18/25 she swam a time of 32.01, then on 7/9/25 she swam a 31.69 to beat her time. At Championships on 7/21/25, Brynn then beat the record again with a swim of 31.27. Congratulations Brynn!

RECORD ALERT!
He did it again! On June 5th Garrett Ellison broke the 15-16 boys 100 IM record with a time of 1:00.83. Then at Championships on July 20th, he broke his own record with a time of 1:00.29. Congratulations Garrett!

At Championships on July 19th, Elena Davis broke the 6 & under girls 25 backstroke record with a time of 23.75. Way to race!
