👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Parents, I have a question...

When you invest in club volleyball, what do you believe your athlete should get out of their tuition?

Obviously skill development matters.
But what else?

🏐 Better volleyball skills?
💜 A positive team culture?
🤝 Meaningful friendships?
📈 Increased confidence?
📋 Quality coaching?
🎓 Recruiting opportunities?
🏆 Competition experience?
😊 Something fun and positive to be a part of?
🌱 Personal growth on and off the court?

I think this is an important conversation because every family values different things.
For some families, it's about helping their athlete reach the next level.

For others, it's about confidence, friendships, and being part of a community that supports them.

At the end of the day, club volleyball is a significant investment of both time and money.

“You keep hitting the same spot.”

Okay…

…but did it work?

Sometimes athletes get criticized for hitting the same area over and over like repeating a smart shot is a bad thing.

But if it keeps finding open court…
If the defense isn’t taking it away…
If it keeps scoring…

why would you stop?

Volleyball IQ isn’t changing shots just to look unpredictable.

It’s recognizing what’s working and continuing to use it until the other team forces an adjustment.

There’s a difference between being repetitive and being intentional.

Smart hitters make the defense adjust first.

🏐 I think most players are focusing on the wrong thing...
When athletes want to improve, they usually focus on skill.
Better passing.
Better serving.
Better hitting.
Better setting.

But after playing and coaching volleyball, I've noticed something...
A lot of athletes aren't being held back by skill.

They're being held back by things like:
💜 Confidence
🧠 Volleyball IQ
📣 Communication
⚠️ Fear of making mistakes
📈 Trusting themselves
🤔 Comparing themselves to other players

Those things don't always show up on a stat sheet, but they can have a huge impact on player growth.
I'm curious...

🏐 What's the biggest mistake young volleyball players are making right now?

Not a serving mistake.
Not a passing mistake.
Not a hitting mistake.
I'm talking about a mistake that's slowing down their growth as an athlete.

As a coach, I've seen athletes struggle with a lot of different things.

Some athletes are afraid to make mistakes.
Some compare themselves to everyone around them.
Some don't communicate enough.
Some wait until they're "good enough" before putting themselves out there.
And some simply don't realize how much potential they actually have.

The interesting thing is that the biggest thing holding an athlete back usually isn't their skill level.
It's often something they don't even realize they're doing.
So I'm curious...

As someone who's passionate about growing the game and creating more opportunities for athletes, I think these conversations matter.

There are a lot of talented athletes who never get the chance to experience club volleyball, and understanding the barriers is the first step toward finding solutions.
