Let's meet another 16 Hour Lock-In racer and 3 time returning participant!

1. Name: Justin

2. Location: Leland, NC

3. In one sentence, who are you and what do you do?
Family doctor, husband, and dad trying to stay active

4. Why did you sign up for The 16 Hour Lock In?
Originally because of my wife. We have always run it together. But also due to being humbled in a Last Man Standing event that ended earlier than hoped when I couldn't keep the hour loop pace as long as I wanted.

5. Goal for this race? Do 1 more loop. So 58.5mi. Or at least 50 miles.

6. Favorite aid station snack? Pickles with something sweet.

7.Running or race mantra?
Some day I won't be able to do this, but today is not that day...
I had a friend/former patient that died of ALS in his 30s. He did all the things before he couldn't & truly used his platform to impact people's lives for good.

8. Best memory from previous Lock-In? The buffet of food and snacks!

Excited to see you and Tori return for another year this November! πŸ”’πŸ‘ŸπŸŒ³

It's the 16 Hour Lock-In Racer Spotlight series! πŸ”’πŸ‘ŸπŸŒ³
Let's start with returning racer, Tori!

1. Name: Tori

2. Location: Leland, NC

3. Who are you and what do you do?
I just completed year 3 of a daily running streak - started May 2023 and still going! I'm a physician and mom of 3 busy kids.

3. Why did you return for another year at The 16 Hour Lock In?
I'm a slower runner so I appreciate no time cutoff per lap and have had a great experience the last 2 years at this race, and a fun 16 hours of running with my husband!

4. Goal for this race?
50+ miles

5. Advice or wisdom to share with first time Lock-In racers?
Pace yourself, eat, and prepare for sand

6. Best memory from previous Lock-In?
Amazing sunset

7. Favorite aid station snack?
Cheez-its, salted potatoes, sour patch kids, twizzlers...

8. Running or race mantra?
You are running with your mind/heart - not your knee/hip/foot (whatever part is currently hurting!)

So excited to see all of you this November! 🀘🏽

Hi all! A couple of items about The 16 Hour Lock-In:
1. Race is sold out, but use the waitlist if you want to get into the race. Obviously no guarantees, but historically we have gone through the entire waitlist. Even when it seems really long! Many people turn down their invitation. Lots of movement off the waitlist the week leading up to the race.
2. If you need a campsite at the Main Campground, sites become available to reserve this week (May 20th or 6 months out). Use the Carolina Beach State Park website.
3. Looking for folks to feature in our Racer Profile series!! I want to highlight new racers and anyone not been previously featured. If this is you, please shoot us a message (email in profile). I will to reach out to some you personally so heads up 😁 The profiles are a unique feature of our race community and help showcase the diverse experiences of our crew!

Hope everyone is having a great spring. Happy trails, punk rockers!

πŸ”’ The 16 Hour Lock-In is a no-DNF ultra marathon in which participants have 16 hours to run a 4.5 mile trail loop as many times as they wish. Our goal is to bring athletes of different paces and abilities to compete together, whether your goal is to finish a single lap or many laps. Cool punk rock patches given for finishing a Recognized Race Distance (13.1 / 26.2 / 50k / 50 mile / 100k). In keeping with ultramarathon tradition, a hundred mile finish receives a belt buckle.

🧷 The 64 Hour Club: new this year, the club for folks crazy enough to participate in four or more Lock-Ins (16Γ—4). Some sort of cool swag, more info coming!
