4th pedestrian hit in a week in our communities.
This is why pedestrian infrastructure matters.

This morning, a young elementary school student was hit by a vehicle while using a crosswalk inside a school zone near Derby Hills Elementary. Thankfully, the child’s injuries do not appear to be severe or life-threatening.

Today’s incident is a reminder of just how quickly something can happen and why extra caution in our school zones is so important.

When driving near a school, please anticipate children walking, riding bikes, and crossing the street. Slow down, stay off your phone, watch every crosswalk, and give buses, crossing guards, parents, pedestrians, and other drivers a little extra patience.
