Michelangelo’s David — one of the most famous sculptures in the world. 🇮🇹✨
Carved from a single block of marble between 1501 and 1504, David stands an incredible 17 feet (5.17 m) tall. Michelangelo captured David in the tense moment before his battle with Goliath, with incredible anatomical detail—from the muscles and veins to his intense expression.

Seeing this Renaissance masterpiece up close at Florence’s Galleria dell’Accademia is completely different from seeing it in pictures. And yes… we had to admire it from every angle! 😂

🥾⛰️ GRAN SASSO — WE DID IT!

From the wide-open plateau of Campo Imperatore, we climbed into the rugged heart of the Gran Sasso, following steep, rocky trails beneath towering peaks.

The wind cut across the mountains, clouds raced over the ridgelines, and every step brought sharper air, wilder views, and a deeper sense of adventure. Our legs burned, our hearts pounded, and the landscape seemed to grow more dramatic with every turn.

Reaching Rifugio Carlo Franchetti felt like a true reward: raw mountain silence, endless horizons, and the kind of exhaustion that makes you smile.

Sometimes the best adventures are the ones that make you work for the view. 🇮🇹❤️

🚴‍♂️🚴🏻‍♀️ 🇮🇹 45 MILES • 4,450 FT OF ELEVATION • NO UNDERTAKING! 😅💪

Today’s ride took us to the incredible Monastery of San Benedetto (Sacro Speco) in Subiaco, built right into the mountainside around the cave where Saint Benedict lived as a hermit in the 6th century.

History, breathtaking views, serious climbing, and two wheels — this is why we love exploring Italy by bike! ❤️🇮🇹
