The Lakeland Athletic Department is excited to announce the hiring of Dillon Ch*****ne as the new varsity baseball coach.
Dillon brings extensive playing, coaching, and player-development experience to the baseball program. A former Division I two-way player and team captain at Longwood University, Ch*****ne competed as a right-handed pitcher and corner infielder while earning a Division I baseball scholarship.
In addition to playing, Dillon spent parts of six years training at Tread, a prestigious baseball performance facility in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he trained alongside hundreds of professional and MLB players.
Ch*****ne continued his playing career professionally with the Ogden Raptors and competed in multiple collegiate summer leagues, including the South Florida Collegiate Baseball League,
Western Major Baseball League, and Northwoods League and the MLB Draft League. He was also a two-time varsity baseball captain at Divine Child prior to college.
As a coach, Ch*****ne has nearly a decade of experience working with youth, high school, and college-level athletes. He has served as a travel baseball coach and head coach with several organizations. Currently Dillon serves as a Performance Coach at Grit Over Gift, where he works with athletes on baseball instruction, throwing development, strength and conditioning, mobility, and individualized player-development programs. He has helped numerous athletes pursue opportunities to play college baseball across the country.
Ch*****ne said, "My coaching philosophy is built around player development, accountability, preparation, discipline, and competing the right way. My goal is to develop not only
successful baseball players, but also confident, responsible, and productive young men who understand the value of teamwork, perseverance, leadership, and commitment. I believe the
lessons learned through baseball can have a lasting impact far beyond the field and I am excited to build a program centered on development, character, and a strong team culture."
