“A testament to the quick bond created within this group of guys — we were a true team,” Jung said. “I do think it’s really cool that this Woodside team was a group of members from the same club rather than sourced from the most successful league teams across the region, as many of the teams we met at nationals were.”
Since moving back to Seattle, Jung has continued his racquet-sports journey. He joined a 4.0 men’s singles league which allows him to keep playing tennis regularly, and he has recently taken up padel. He often reminisces about his experience at Woodside and the friends he made at the club.
“Unsurprisingly, I haven’t yet found a club with the same level of community and energy for tennis as Woodside, and I miss having my Woodside crew down the street from me,” Jung said. “But I do plan to continue playing, and I hit up the Woodside guys whenever I’m back in town.”
After years as an elite squash player, Chris Jung discovered a new racquet-sport community in Kansas City, helping a Woodside tennis team to a national championship.
