Let’s take a look at Leg Pull from the mat and then the Push Ups on the Reformer. The beauty of the Method! The apparatus supports the mat exercises.

Both of these exercises are from the advanced order. Both require strength, control and concentration. Note they both root back to the mat exercise of plank or push up, which you learned in your beginner mat.

Save this reel as a reference as how to build Swan on the Cadillac.

I am going to confess something to you, I am not a huge fan of extension exercises, in fact I have a love hate relationship with this exercise. Having said that you still have to balance your workouts with extension and flexion movements. And I am at a point in my practice where I understand and accept it….

My big learning moment with any extension exercise was understanding the the role the glutes and upper hamstrings play. And of course finding neutral pelvis while laying face down or prone to the mat. And that being said, the front of the hip needs to be open or in extension.

If the body is balanced, front and back, with strength and flexibility, then these exercises are easier to execute.

Hence the point of these exercises. Joseph Pilates method works and so do these exercise. Learn the Pilates Method and change your body.

Happy Wunda Chair Wednesday!

Let’s look at building the Push Up aeries on the chair.

We are taking the Leg Pull exercise from the mat and working it on the chair without the use of the pedal. This will take away the challenge of stability help just focus on strength.

Still very challenging, but an option to build strength and feel more confident and comfortable using the chair.
