Our vision at Prototype Training Systems is to build the GREATEST relationship business for our clients and cultivate the greatest human development culture for our team members. As Maya Angelou said: “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

We are a values-driven facility. Every decision we make is based on those values. We are the segue into a more healthy, active life. That responsibility means introducing clients to new activities, making them comfortable with working out in any environment, and giving them attributes they can display with pride. Our own hard work will be recognized by our clients and friends and will encourage them to work harder in the face of challenges. We believe in the prescriptive model, not a one size fits all approach. We prescribe the best programs and services to our clients that will suit both their needs and wants to maximize their results. We believe in the long haul. Continual progress is necessary for self-actualization; if you’re not moving ahead, you’re falling behind. We set milestones and celebrate when they’re reached. And then we reach further. We don’t take ourselves too seriously. We’re comfortable in our skills and can joke about our weaknesses. However, individual growth is integral to the development of both ourselves and our community. We believe that it’s just as important to train for a hiking trip as a triathlon. Meet Molly. This is one of our favorite 100 in 100 stories to date!

Molly lights up the room every single time she’s in here — always a smile, always ready to work.

Despite real challenges, she’s building strength and confidence her own way, one session at a time.

In June, that showed up outside these four walls too — she swam backstroke and freestyle at the Special Olympics state meet at Harvard.

25 years ago today, 2,977 people didn’t come home. 343 of them were firefighters.

They walked into buildings everyone else was running out of.

Day 95 of 100 in 100 is about Tony Potenti: Worcester firefighter and Veteran.

Every gym has a couple like Todd and Peg, if it’s lucky. The ones who organize the Earth Day cleanup. Who host the afterparty. Who notice the new person standing in the corner and go make sure they feel like they belong.

They know that corner well. “I remember being scared coming in,” Peg says. She and a friend went to their first class together so neither of them had to walk in alone.

She’ll also tell you what it isn’t. “This is not like somebody coming over and yelling in your face to pick up more weights. It’s not like that at all.” The coaching is individualized. Some people need to be told to put another ten pounds on the bar. Some people need to be told it’s okay to take the weight off. The coaches know the difference.”

“If you’re worried about it, it’s okay. We were all there. It’s okay to be scared, but don’t let it stop you from coming in and trying. Take it slow, and you’re going to be amazed at what happens.”

Thirteen years, 4,329 sign-ins, and a community that feels like family. We meet you where you are. Todd and Peg are proof of where that can lead.

Peg has won Most Welcoming more times than we can count. Todd, we say this with all due respect.

Before he was Coach G-Man, he was just a guy trying to get in shape for a job he never ended up taking. Two weeks before his U.S. Marshals application opened, he found out his buddy Brian and Mike were opening a gym instead — and before he ever asked about coaching, he asked if they needed a cleaner. 🧡

13 years later, he’s one of the strongest lifters in this building, and one of the people we lean on most. Some of the best things that happen to us are the ones we never saw coming.

That’s how many times Lisa Marie has signed in at Prototype. More than any member in the history of this gym. More than any coach. More than anyone.

Thirteen years. 6,110 logged results. A 335 lb deadlift that’s been sitting at the top of her board since 2016.

And she’d never bring it up.

Day 75 if 100 in 100 is BZ Brian Zancewicz

Fourteen years ago Brian’s phone rang while he was
driving home. Mike asking if he wanted to
start a gym. He said yeah.

Then it was just the two of us in an empty building,
coaching and cleaning the floors.

Everything you love about this place — he helped build it. Not the equipment. The part where you walk in on a bad day and someone notices.

Ask him how he describes Prototype to a stranger and there’s no pitch in it at all:

“Just a place you can come in, and we can take care of a part of your life for you without you having to
worry about anything.”

Twenty years coaching. Fourteen of them here. Still
the guy people go to when they need to talk something out.

There’s a moment when someone stops being a customer and starts being part of something. Graham Pettengill can name his exactly. 🎟️

“It used to be I’d look at the workout the night before, peek at it in the morning, see if I wanted to go. Now I look and see who’s going.”

Nine years in the 7am class. If he misses a few days, the texts start. Coffee after. Grandkid photos passed around the floor.

“It is a family,” he says. And he’d know — he showed up nine years ago convinced he was going to get hurt.

He drives past closer gyms. Four days a week. 🧡

When 徐睿 and his wife Amanda Zhang moved to Sherborn, Rui did the sensible thing — took a trial at every gym near the new house. Every one of them was perfectly nice.

“They are friendly, but I don’t think that is where I belong.”

So he kept driving. 25 minutes each way, 50 round trip, for a one-hour class at 7am. He works remotely.

There is no reason for him to be here.

He calls the drive a treasure.
