Applying for or renewing your License to Carry (LTC) or Fi****ms Identification (FID) Card? Make sure you follow these steps to help ensure your application process goes smoothly:

🔹 1. Complete a Fi***rm Safety Course
You must complete a fi***rm safety course that includes live fire.

🔹 2. Complete Your Application Online
Fill out your application online before your appointment.

🔹 3. Schedule an Appointment
Once your application is completed, schedule an appointment with the Chicopee Police Licensing Department.

🔹 4. Bring the Required Documents
When you arrive for your appointment, you will need:
• Your driver’s license
• Proof of residence
• A bank check or money order made payable to the City of Chicopee

🔹 Unable to Submit the Application Online?
You may print an application and bring it with you to your appointment. If you choose this option, the application must be completed upon your arrival.

WARNING: CARRYING LARGE CAPACITY FEEDING DEVICES IN MASSACHUSETTS

It is illegal to carry a fi***rm with a large capacity feeding device on a public way in Massachusetts! The only way to transport a large capacity feeding device is if it is unloaded and in a locked container. (So-called "pre bans" are NOT exempt under the new law.)

There is no exemption for those possessing a Massachusetts LTC to carry a grandfathered large capacity magazine on a public way or in a vehicle. The law specifically states that an LTC does not authorize possession or carry of large capacity feeding devices except as permitted by §131M.

Bottom line: carrying one on your person on a public way—or simply keeping one loose or accessible in your vehicle—can expose you to serious criminal charges.
