๐บ Sea Her Surf Comp Recap๐บ
Ok, so this was my first surf competition and my goal was to have fun and not get disqualified ๐น
I signed up as a challenge to myself and to connect with more women in the surfing community.
Now, Iโd never surfed Cocoa Beach before, so I wanted to get some warm up waves before we started. My friend and I surfed outside of the competition flags and I started to get comfortable with the conditions. Then, a stingray popped out of the water and I knew I had to look up what it meant. Stone rays represent power, grace, and agility. Those sound like great surfing attributes to me!
First heat, I just started surfing. I bank two safe waves and then start working some cross stepping and style. I was stoked. I even twerked on a wave ๐น
Then my friend tells me that I made the next round, the finals. โMe?! Noooo. No way.โ I say. Yep, I made the finals. I was shocked and I still am to be honest.
Surfed the finals and ended up in 6th overall. The tides had changed and I wasnโt surfing as well as the first heat, but thatโs ok! It was my first competition and I had surfed really well that morning.
Will I compete again? 100% in the next Sea Her Surf in 2027! Anything else? Who knows. All I know is that I am so inspired to help surfers get healthier and fitter on land so they can crush their goals in the line up๐ค๐ฝ๐ค๐ฝ
