Pseudobombax ellipticum is a fast growing plant that is famous for its caudex with a turtle shell pattern. The tortoise is slow moving and takes a long time to develop! But in the meantime, the leaves put on a great show! Every chance I get, I try to spend a time at sunrise with this plant just to enjoy the color of trans-illuminated leaves

Tylecodon buchholzianus is just waking up after its summer nap. This is the leafless form. But it seems so happy to grow it is pushing out a tiny leaf!

It was in full bloom when I saw this at the LA Cactus and succulent club meeting. solomon_square gave a great talk on hybridization of plants. Then spring rolled around and it decided to play dead. I resisted the urge to water mostly. A little sip of water now and then and nightly dew was enough. It decided to live another year ❤️❤️❤️

Night safari. They have different personalities after dark.

Adenia perrieri after dark. Its blazing hot outside at 10 pm. Did a night safari and found these two under UV light. Many cacti and succulent plants contain pigments that emit visible light from UV illumination.

I love my ceramic artists deeply, but recently I noticed a creator who made 3D art into plant vessels.

I love the tubercles on this vessel by Vesseld It reminds me of Tylecodon wallichi or orthonna herrerii

Rebutia nazarenoensis is a small, clustering cactus species that is currently considered a botanical synonym for Aylostera pygmaea (often broadly referred to under the LLIFLE Database for Rebutia pygmaea var. nazarenoensis).

At least that is what Google AI said! LOL. This has pretty flowers. I can’t wait! In the background adenia perrieri and a cutting from Decarya madagascariensis. Fingers crossed!

Cissus tuberosa. This is the parent tuber of a wild vine that is taking over one of my benches. I separated the tuber from the vine and was amazed that the vine didn’t wilt at all. It had already set multiple roots where it could. I’m so excited to see it vining again. I have several aerial tubers that I’m hoping to propagate. I really encourage young growers to try this vine. This creature really impressed me at Intercity. The full mature caudex takes time to develop, but it is an extremely worthy project!
