Chester County, PA's 19th century base ball team. We are always looking for new members! None of our games are scripted by any means.

We are a 19th century base ball team from West Chester, PA devoted to educating the public about the way base ball was played during the Civil War. We are directly affiliated with the Mid-Atlantic Vintage Base Ball League. We use the same equipment, uniforms, terminology, and rules that were used back in 1864. While we are dressing and playing the part, we are not technically a reenactment. Our games are played at the skill level of our club and the club(s) opposing us.

Scores of spectators flocked to Ely Park in Lambertville, NJ to watch the Brandywine Base Ball Club of West Chester take on the Lambertville Logan Base Ball Club in two spirited base ball matches. The hosts took a commanding lead with a fine offensive showing in the early innings that proved too much for Brandywine to overcome, with a final score of 19-12.

Game 2 saw both teams sport excellent defensive abilities. Lambertville held a 4-3 lead going into the bottom of the final inning. West Chester had two men on base but could not plate either, ending the game at 4-3.

Brandywine sends their heartfelt thanks to the hosts and new friends.

West Chester takes the field next week against the Fair Plays BBC of Talbot County Maryland at East Goshen Park on Sunday, June 14th. First pitch at 11am.

Taking a step — and a swing — back in time A group of Philadelphia area residents have taken a step back in time — all the way back to 1864 — to play the game of baseball as players would have more than 100 years ago. NBC10’s Matt DeLucia has the story.
