That’s a wrap on week one of Camp Uncommon! Today we visited the challenge course at West Chester University! The kids were so invested in the team work plank walk we didn’t even try the other challenges. We can’t wait to go back next week! After a day in the dirt we headed back to the school for a quick gun safety talk followed by an amazing Nerf War.
We are tired, but honestly I wish we had more time! Looking forward to a new team next week! Let’s go 😤

Day 4 of Camp Uncommon focused on strength training and first aid. We learned to stop, think, help when our teammates needed help. We learned how important it is to stay calm, as well as how hard it is to stay calm when the chaos hits! We walked as a team to East Goshen Park and enjoyed some watermelon in the shade.

Today we spent most of our day “doing” leadership. We talked about it sure, but we really discovered it through play. We built obstacles courses and then led our blind folded teammates through the course using only our words. Talk about the difference between communication and comprehension! After we had the students volunteer to teach us other games that forced us to improve our leadership. This camp rocks!

Day 2 of Camp Uncommon in the books! Today we learned hip throws, designed our own journals, and started learning about business via “The Pumpkin Plan”. We tried to design the fastest paper airplane, then spent time in construction, art and design, and problem solving stations. Lunch outside in grass was a special treat!

Another step in the right direction.
This was the first day of Camp Uncommon. A little dream in the mind of Anne Kirk brought to life with the help of an amazing team and group of families who trust us to create an environment where kids learn through play. Different ages, different families, different backgrounds but the same values. We believe in children and their capabilities. When given a place to be the standard, these children inspire greatness in everyone they meet.

Today we take a moment to honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to this country.
We don't take lightly the freedom to do what we do here. Today is a reminder of who made it possible. Kirk's is wishing you a happy Memorial Day.
