Our Abington 8/9 Tournament Team is back in action today at the Kingston/Forty Fort Little League 8/9-Year-Old Tournament!

Abington 9/10 All Stars beat St Marys 9/10 All Stars on Thursday, 10-0.

Noah Troy earned the win for Abington. The hurler gave up zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out one and walking one. He was supported by some exceptional defense most notably Mikey Fogley in right field and Connor Mitchell at short stop. Patrick Scanlon pitched one and two-thirds innings of shutout ball in relief. The pitcher surrendered one hit, striking out one and walking none. Jack Keeler came in to relieve Scanlon for the final out.

Abington collected 11 hits in the game. Jack Keeler, Ford Eckenrode, and Stephen Strauch each collected two hits. Jack Keeler, Patrick Scanlon, and Stephen Strauch each drove in two runs. Ford Eckenrode and Santo Zanghi each had RBI singles. Eckenrode also stole two bases.

The team plays again tomorrow at 4:00 against the host team, Upper Providence Little League. They are one of four teams left in contention for the state championship.

Abington 9-10 All Stars won the Section 5 Championship Wednesday evening with a come from behind win, 9-4, at Valley East Little League in Drums.

After falling behind 3-0, Abington flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring seven runs on five hits to take the lead, 7-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Noah Troy that drove in two and got Abington on the board.

Ford Eckenrode pitched a complete game. The starter allowed eight hits and four runs (one earned) over six innings, striking out one and walking none.

Santo Zanghi went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Patrick Scanlon had two hits in two at bats.

The Abington 9-10 All Stars travel to the state tournament next week in Phoenixville, PA. Their first game will be Monday, July 27 at 10:00 a.m. against Ingomar/Franklin Park LL.

On behalf of the Little League Board members and 12-year-old All-Star Team coaches, we would greatly appreciate your patience and understanding regarding the challenging situation which came upon the team. At this time, all of the details have not been made public. We realize we may have lost the faith of some of our community members already, yet we ask for your trust that things were handled according to Little League regulations, and with guidance from our District 17 Administrator.

We respectfully ask those who have commented to please understand there is more to the situation. There were options to be presented for the player; however these were not able to be expressed under the circumstances at the last night at the field. The Board or coaches would never simply remove a player from the team to which they have contributed heart and effort without providing options.

We take pride in our organization which values teamwork, community, inclusion, fun, and integrity.

We hope to provide more information to our community, as we are able. Thank you for your attention.

It wasn’t the ending we hoped for, but we’re incredibly proud of our Intermediate (50/70) All-Stars for representing Abington Little League at the Pennsylvania State Tournament.

Congratulations to our players, coaches, and families on a memorable summer. Thank you for wearing Abington with pride.

A big THANK YOU to hurler Mason O’Malley of Dunmore Little League and our own Timmy Deschaine for working out with our 10s last night as they prepare for Sectionals. Both are great pitchers and great kids! Thanks to them and their parents.
