Splash for Cash — The Roster Is Set — Bring Your Cash!
At OOYC’s End-of-Season Celebration on Sunday, October 11th, someone is going swimming in the creek… but who will it be?

Your cash will decide! 💦

John, Johnny, Darren, and Bob will each have a sealed box with a slot for cash. The competition begins at 1:00 PM and continues until the start of the awards presentation.

At that time, the money will be counted, and the person with the most money in their box will take the plunge into Oak Orchard Creek! 🌊

💰 Bring your cash and pick your target!

Best of all, 100% of the money collected will go directly to Oak Orchard Youth Sailing.

Come support OOYS, have some fun, and help decide who’s taking the swim!

End-of-Season Celebration - ALL WELCOME

Food: Steak Roast - $18 cash at the door - bring an appetizer or dish to pass. Dessert will be a deluxe Sundae Bar provided by the crew of Flak.

Bar Service: Bar will serve, beer, wine, and soft drinks - cash only

Indoor Co****le Tournament: Rain or shine - Teams of two - Sign-ups From 1:00 to 1:15 - Starts at 1:30 played on the OOYC porch (and patio) Teams sign up to represent their respective boat (or hybrid teams also allowed). Team pride will be on full display as duos vie for the championship trophy.

"Splash for Cash" - Youth Sailing Fundraiser : Want to have a little fun at this year’s event - and help support youth sailing at the same time?

Four volunteers. Four boxes. One creek. Each of our four participants will have a sealed box with their name on it. Starting at 1:00 p.m., you can put cash into the box of the person you’d most like to see take the plunge into Oak Orchard Creek!

At the end of the awards, we’ll announce the totals and reveal who gets to go swimming! The lucky winner (and interested spectators) will then head down to the docks and take the plunge into the murky and cold creek.

Think of it as cash voting with consequences. And the best part: 100% of the money raised will be donated to youth sailing.

The final roster of four volunteers will be announced shortly. So get ready to bring your cash, pick your target, and make a splash!

Ketchup Race & Party!

Yesterday’s Ketchup Race and Party was a great success by every measure!

The race itself was a real challenge. A light northerly breeze on an east-west course kept everyone working all the way around the course. Every time the wind built and you felt like you had something going, it seemed to disappear just as quickly. Challenging, frustrating, and ultimately a great race!

A huge thank you to our Race Committee, especially John Brown, for setting and retrieving the course marks for every race this year. It’s a tremendous amount of work and is very much appreciated.

And thank you to our signal boat crew aboard Nepenthe — Bob Vosteen, Anne Martin, and Ken Martin — for running a flawless start. It takes concentration and precision, and they nailed it!

Then came the party… and what a party! 🎉

Thank you to everyone who brought food to share — you outdid yourselves! A very big thank you to Tim Quirk, Dana Leonard, and their families for hosting and making it such a memorable afternoon. And a special thank you to Tim for making The Uptown Groove part of the celebration. The band made the entire afternoon festive and fun!

Another special thank you to Tim for his generous raffle baskets, and Dana for making the event shirts possible and both donating the full proceeds from their sale to youth sailing. Together, these efforts raised over $1,000 for youth sailing!

It was definitely a highlight of the OOYC race season. Thanks to everyone who helped make the Ketchup Race and Party such a great day!
