Review of Assignment of Noncompensable Musculoskeletal Joint Disabilities The VA Office of Inspector General (OIG) conducted this review to determine whether VBA claims processors correctly assigned noncompensable evaluations for service-connected musculoskeletal joint disabilities—the most common service-connected disabilities among veterans.

Veterans: Be on the lookout for a scam targeting your mailbox.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is warning Veterans about a postcard claiming you or your spouse may qualify for an extra $185 per month through a so-called “Veteran Savings Program.” While the postcard mentions legitimate programs like CHAMPVA and TRICARE For Life, it is not from VA.

If you call the number listed, scammers may pretend to be VA employees, thank you for your service, and then ask for personal information such as your Social Security number or bank account details.

Remember:
• Never share personal or financial information with unsolicited callers.
• Be cautious of anyone pressuring you to act quickly to avoid losing benefits.
• Always verify benefit information through VA’s official channels.
