5pm, 8am, 6pm, 6am, 12pm, and 7pm classes took on Hero Workout “Buriak”! Way to go everyone for tackling this challenging workout as part of — From CrossFit.com:
“AWS1 James Buriak, 31, of Salem, Virginia, died Aug. 31, 2021, when his helicopter Loosefoot 616 went down off the coast of San Diego, California. He served as a naval aircrewman rescue swimmer (AWS) with HSC-8.

After graduating high school, Buriak attended Roanoke College and joined the Navy in 2017. He deployed aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt for back-to-back tours and multiple detachments before departing for the USS Abraham Lincoln.

He was known as an exemplary father and partner, and avid CrossFit athlete who enjoyed physical challenges. Buriak is survived by his wife, Megan; son, Caulder; parents James and Carol; and sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Eric Zickefoose.”

6am, 7am, 8am, 12pm, 5pm, 6pm and 7pm classes took on Hero Workout Wednesday #2 today - “RJ” - and totally crushed it! —- Today’s workout is a Hero WOD dedicated to Veteran LAPD officer and United States Marine Corps Reservist Sergeant Major Robert J Cottle. At the age of 45, he was killed by an improvised explosive device while on patrol in Southern Afghanistan on Wednesday, March 24, 2010. RJ joined the Marines at age 18, and the LAPD in 1990. His various LAPD assignments included Hollywood Vice, Southeast Area, LAPD Dive Team and, most recently, SWAT. He is survived by his wife Emily and 9 month old daughter Kaila.

Hero WOD Wednesday, number 1 of 14. Here are the 6pm, 5pm, 7pm, 12pm, 6am, 7am and 8am classes. We completed “Eva Strong”: in teams of two, five rounds for time:
24x double under/single under (each)
19x toes-to-bar (total)
2x clean and jerk @ 205/135-lbs. (total)
400m run (together) — Today’s workout is a partner hero tribute workout for Eva Mireles. Mireles was one of two teachers killed along with 19 students at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, in 2022. The 44-year-old was an avid CrossFitter who regularly attended Shotgun CrossFit in the same county.
