Dates for the 2026 Greenbelt Park Training Race Series are set: April 29, May 7, 14, and 21, 2026. Registration for week 1 opens next week on April 15.
We have several exciting changes to the series this year. The race will be held on the same loop in Greenbelt Park as before, but now on a fully closed road. Parking and registration will be in the Sweetgum picnic area and the start and finish line are just east of entrance to Sweetgum. The course will be closed to all traffic — vehicles and cyclists not in the race — from 5:55pm to 6:45pm and again from 6:55pm to 7:45pm. More details on these changes are in the Notes on BikeReg.
The Greenbelt Training Race Series is co-hosted by Route 1 Velo and the National Capitol Velo Club. Stay tuned for announcements about sponsors and podium prizes over the coming weeks.
Finally, we are naming the series in honor of our friend and long-time Route 1 Velo member, Lisa Mary Martin, who passed away in a hit and run accident last year.
Thanks to our Greenbelt sponsors: College Park Car Wash, Arrow Bicycle, RJTech, Drink More Water, Bagels and Grind.

The day after some of the best cyclocross athletes competed in the Pan-American Cyclocross Championships at the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Washington, DC, Route 1 Velo riders competed in amateur races at DCCX.
Matt raced in a large men’s 2/3/4 field, Jesper, Rodges, Sean, and George competed in master’s races, and John, Nils, David, and Trey raced in the early 4/5 field. Chris Jones and Chris McGill (not pictured) raced later in the day.
Just a few more weekends of cyclocross races remain before the 2025 season concludes with Capital ‘Cross Classic and CX Nationals in December.

In addition to racing, a number of Route 1 Velo and Proteus Velo Club members spent much of the weekend setting up the course and volunteering on race day. Hyattsville CX couldn’t happen without the contributions of our many volunteers.
Others who deserve a shout out are our Race Director, , our MC, , the staff from .bicycle who provided mechanical support, and Race Officials.
Pictured are:
