💙 WELCOME BACK — SEASON 31 STARTS TODAY! 💙

The music is on, the studios are ready, and today we officially open the doors to our 31st season at Step By Step!

There is nothing quite like the first day of a new dance season — familiar faces coming back through the doors, new dancers walking in for the very first time, and all of us getting the chance to begin again together.

To our returning dancers and families, welcome home.
To everyone joining Step By Step for the first time, welcome to our family.

We have so much planned for this year, and we can't wait to see where Season 31 takes us.

Here's to another year of learning, growing, creating, performing, making memories — and, of course, DANCING!

Confidence. Creativity. Community.

Let's go, Season 31! 💙🖤🤍

✨ TEACHER SPOTLIGHT | MISS PAM ✨

And now it's my turn. 💙

As we get ready to begin Season 31, I've been thinking about what it means to say that out loud.

Thirty-one seasons of Step By Step. Thirty-one years of dancers walking through our doors — some staying for a season, some growing up here, and some, as you've seen throughout these Teacher Spotlights, eventually finding their way back as teachers themselves.

When I started Step By Step, I could never have imagined all the ways this studio would grow and change. But one thing has remained constant: I've always believed dance is about so much more than learning steps.

It's about confidence. Creativity. Connection. Finding your voice. Feeling like you belong somewhere.

Those beliefs eventually led me back to school to earn my master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Dance/Movement Therapy, but in many ways, they're the same things I've been trying to give my students since the very beginning.

A few things about me outside the studio? Give me a hot coffee with almond milk, a paintbrush or a room that desperately needs decluttering and I'm pretty happy. “Where Is the Love?” by the Black Eyed Peas will always get me singing and dancing. And someday, I still plan to own a little home in Italy, where I can soak up the culture and food.

My students would probably describe me as dedicated.

After 31 years, I think I'll take that one. 💙

I'm still teaching. Still creating. Still learning. Still mentoring my faculty. And still incredibly excited when a child discovers something in themselves that they didn't know was there.

Tomorrow, we open the doors for Season 31.

To every family who has trusted Step By Step with their dancer over the years, and to the incredible faculty standing beside me as we begin another one — thank you.

I can't wait to see what we create this year.

Season 31 begins TOMORROW!

Meet Miss Demetra 💙

If there’s one word that fits Miss Demetra, it might just be passionate — and her students apparently agree!

Demetra has been part of the Step By Step family since 2012 and today leads our Next Step Dance Company. Under her direction, our dancers have celebrated countless successes, from competition stages to some pretty incredible performance opportunities — and this year she’ll get to watch members of her team take part in the 100th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC!

But Director is only one of the many hats Demetra wears. She’s also mom to Deanna and Barrett — and Deanna isn’t falling too far from Mom’s footsteps, which means Demetra gets to experience life as a dance mom, too!

Her students know the passionate, creative side of Miss Demetra, but our adults get another side of her on Thursday nights. Her warm heart and love of expressive movement make her the perfect person to wind down the week with our growing Candlelight Lyrical class.

✨ Adult Candlelight Lyrical
Thursdays | 8:00–9:00 PM
No registration required — adults can simply drop in!

And since we’re getting to know her… apparently the way to Miss Demetra’s heart is a pumpkin cold brew, some Paula Abdul, and perhaps a freshly organized space. 😂

We’re so fortunate to have Miss Demetra entering another season with us — as team director, teacher, dance mom, mentor and such an important part of the Step By Step family.

✨ TEACHER SPOTLIGHT | MISS LINDSEY ✨

Next up in our Season 31 Teacher Spotlights is Miss Lindsey — our newest teacher who really isn't new to Step By Step at all! 💙

Lindsey has called Step By Step home since 2003. She grew up in our studios, joined the Next Step Dance Company, and even after graduating, she never really left. She's returned to our stage as an alum, volunteered at countless recitals helping our dancers backstage, and continued building an impressive performance career of her own.

She's performed and competed nationally, has a background in competitive cheer and All-Star Dance, and — fun fact — one of the things still on her bucket list is to dance at the Super Bowl! Her students would probably describe her as welcoming, which makes her a perfect fit for what she'll be doing with us this year.

This season, Lindsey will be training alongside me in our recreational program as she officially steps into her new role on faculty. And she's also helping us launch something BRAND NEW at Step By Step...

📣 POM!

We're bringing this high-energy style to our elementary, middle school AND high school dancers this season.

Think big energy, sharp movement, performance, personality and, of course... POM POMS!

And if you know Step By Step, I bet you can guess what colors those poms are going to be. 💙🤍🖤

We're so excited to welcome Lindsey back in this new capacity and to watch another Step By Step alum bring everything she's learned — both inside and outside our studio — to a new generation of dancers.

Welcome to the faculty, Miss Lindsey!

Season 31 begins September 12!

✨ TEACHER SPOTLIGHT | MISS OLIVIA ✨

Next up in our countdown to Season 31 is Miss Olivia!

There is something very special about the way Miss Olivia connects with our youngest dancers. She is nurturing, patient, playful, and has a natural ability to meet little ones right where they are. Our tiniest dancers absolutely adore her — and it's easy to see why. 💙

But dance is only one part of Olivia's creative world. She has been performing in plays and musicals since she was young and loves bringing dance, acting and singing together through musical theater. She's also one of the craftiest people I know — so her answer that you'll find her “in bed with a book or craft” when she needs to recharge couldn't be more fitting!

A few more things about Miss Olivia: Queen's “Don't Stop Me Now” gets her singing and dancing, she dreams of visiting all seven continents, and she thinks her students would describe her as expressive. We think that's a pretty perfect word for someone who loves telling stories through performance.

And somehow, she fits all of this into a very full life. Olivia is in her second year of college studying Early Childhood Education, maintains a busy work schedule, teaches at Step By Step, and continues performing in productions at our local theaters.

Miss Olivia is so much more than a dance teacher. Whether she's teaching dance, theater or singing, she brings creativity, warmth and genuine care for her students into everything she does.

We are incredibly lucky to have her heading into her fourth season on our Step By Step staff!

Season 31 begins September 12! 💙

✨ TEACHER SPOTLIGHT | MISS ZOË ✨

Next up in our Season 31 Teacher Spotlights is Miss Zoë!

When asked for one word her students would probably use to describe her, Miss Zoë chose “cool.” And really... we can't argue with that one. 😎

Zoë began dancing at just four years old and found her dance home at Step By Step after moving to Massachusetts at 13. She went on to become a member of the Next Step Dance Company, performing everywhere from the TD Garden to the USS Intrepid in NYC, before continuing to dance throughout her years at Wellesley College.

These days, you'll find Miss Zoë sharing her love of hip hop with our competitive NSDC dancers, and we're especially excited that she's expanding her time with some of our recreational students this season too!

A few things you may not know? Her drink of choice is an iced chai latte with almond milk and cinnamon, Michael Jackson's “You Rock My World” gets her dancing, Greece is on her bucket list, and when she needs to recharge, you'll find her moving her body — which somehow feels exactly right for Zoë.

And then there's Monday night...

🔥 Adult Hip Hop with Miss Zoë
📅 Mondays
⏰ 8:00–9:00 PM

This class has developed quite a following over the last couple of years, and for good reason. It's fun, energetic, welcoming and a great way to start your week.

No registration required — just drop in and dance!

We're so happy to have Miss Zoë bringing her talent, energy and yes... her cool back for another season. 💙

✨ TEACHER SPOTLIGHT | MISS NATHALIE ✨

Next up in our countdown to Season 31 is Miss Nathalie!

Nathalie has been part of Step By Step since she was just five years old. She grew up dancing in our studios, spent 12 years training in a variety of styles, became a member of the Next Step Dance Company, and later continued dancing while earning her degree in Psychology from UMass Amherst. In 2023, she came full circle and joined us as a teacher. 💙

A few fun things about Miss Nathalie? Her go-to drink is a vanilla sweet cream cold brew with caramel syrup, Michael Jackson's “Love Never Felt So Good” gets her moving, she'd love to travel around Europe, and when she needs to recharge, you'll probably find her with a good book — or taking a nap! The word she thinks her students would use to describe her is kind, and we couldn't agree more.

This season, Nathalie is also stepping into a role that's especially meaningful to me.

💃 Adult Jazz with Miss Nathalie
📅 Thursdays
⏰ 7:00–8:00 PM

After teaching Adult Jazz myself, I couldn't think of anyone I'd rather have step into my shoes and work with my adults. Nathalie brings a fresh approach and a new generation of jazz style to the class while still understanding the foundation she grew up with right here at Step By Step.

And Nathalie, I'm counting on you to throw a little of my old-school jazz in there every now and then. 😂

Adults, come give her class a try! No registration required — just drop in and dance.

We're so proud to have watched Nathalie grow from one of our young dancers into the teacher she is today, and we're excited to see what she brings to Season 31.

Season 31 begins September 12! 💙

✨ TEACHER SPOTLIGHT | MISS TRACY ✨

Next up in our Season 31 Teacher Spotlights is Miss Tracy!

Miss Tracy has been a loyal and valued part of our Step By Step family for years, bringing more than a decade of teaching experience to her students. A graduate of Dean College with a degree in Dance and Performing Arts, Tracy's background spans ballet, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, musical theater and performance — but what I especially appreciate is the creativity, passion and commitment she brings into the classroom.

A few things you may not know about Miss Tracy? She's a Diet Coke girl, recharges by sleeping or swimming in the ocean, has the Redwood Forest on her bucket list, and thinks her students would describe her in one word as “fair.” I think they would agree!

And adults — Miss Tracy isn't just for our younger dancers.

🩰 Beginner Adult Ballet with Miss Tracy
📅 Mondays
⏰ 7:00–8:00 PM

I actually took Tracy's class myself this summer, and it reminded me just how beneficial it is to get back to ballet. The strength, alignment, control, flexibility and attention to technique carry over into so many other forms of movement. I enjoyed it so much that I've decided Monday night ballet needs to become part of my own routine this season.

So if you've been thinking, “I'd love to take ballet, but…” — forget the “but.” This is a beginner adult class. Come move, learn, and do something for yourself.💙💙💙💙

No registration required — just drop in and dance.

We are so lucky to have Miss Tracy returning for another season. 💙

✨ TEACHER SPOTLIGHT | MISS SOPHIA ✨

Next up in our countdown to Season 31 is Miss Sophia!

A Step By Step dancer since the age of five, Sophia grew up in our studio, became a member and captain of the Next Step Dance Company, and went on to earn degrees in Dance and Psychology from UMass Amherst. Today, she brings all of that experience back to the place where it started — sharing her love of dance with the next generation of Step By Step students.

A few things you may not know about Miss Sophia? Her go-to is an iced caramel latte, Beyoncé’s “YA YA” will get her singing and dancing, and she has a goal of someday visiting every Disney park around the world! And the word she thinks her students would use to describe her? Encouraging. We think that's a pretty perfect choice. 💙

And Sophia isn't just teaching our kids this season!

Adults, you can dance with Miss Sophia too!
👞 Intermediate Adult Tap
📅 Wednesdays
⏰ 8:00–9:00 PM

No registration required — just drop in and dance! Whether you're looking to get back into tap or simply want an hour each week that's yours, we'd love to have you.
