NATIONALLY RANKED 🇺🇸

Northgate senior Symone Jewell (155 lbs) enters the 2026–27 season ranked No. 3 in the nation in the latest High School On SI Girls Preseason National High School Wrestling Rankings.

Jewell continues to establish herself among the nation’s elite as she prepares for her senior season representing the Broncos.

WELCOME TO THE BRONCO FAMILY • COACH RICH GOODWIN

Northgate Wrestling is proud to welcome Rich Goodwin to our coaching staff as an assistant coach.

Coach Goodwin brings an exceptional background in wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to the Broncos. A graduate of Oceana High School, Goodwin was a CIF State Medalist, CCS Champion, California State Freestyle Champion, and three-time Junior National Team member before continuing his career at San Francisco State, where he became a three-time NCAA Division II All-American, two-time conference champion, and Western Region champion.

His success continued in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, where he is a second-degree black belt, seven-time IBJJF World Champion, and ten-time World Finalist. He is also the owner of New Creation Wrestling and Jiu Jitsu, LLC.

We are excited to add Coach Goodwin’s championship experience, technical knowledge, and commitment to developing athletes to the Northgate Wrestling program.

Three Northgate Broncos - Pratham Sharma, Symone Jewell, and Haris Nurakhunov - traveled to Fargo, North Dakota, to compete against the nation’s best at the most prestigious high school wrestling tournament in the country.

Simply qualifying for the USA Wrestling Junior & 16U National Championships is an accomplishment in itself, but these three embraced the challenge and went toe-to-toe with the best wrestlers in America.

♦️Symone Jewell capped off an incredible tournament by earning All-American honors for the third time, placing 4th in the Junior Girls Division.

♦️Haris Nurakhunov battled through both Greco-Roman and Freestyle, finishing with a combined 3-4 record against elite national competition.

♦️Pratham Sharma put together a strong performance in Greco-Roman, finishing 4-2 while competing against one of the toughest fields in the country.

We’re incredibly proud of these Broncos for representing California, Northgate, and themselves with toughness and class. The experience, lessons, and confidence gained on wrestling’s biggest stage will continue to fuel their growth.

This past weekend, both Haris and Pratham reached the finals of the Greco state tournament in their respective weight classes. They have been grinding this off-season! Excited to see them carry over their success from the winter.

Proud weekend for our Broncos in Fresno!

Pratham Sharma, Symone Jewell, Lexi Rotenberry, and Harris Nurakhunov represented Contra Costa County with the Mount Diablo Wrestling Association All-Area Team, competing against some of the best wrestlers in California in both freestyle and Greco-Roman (the two Olympic styles of wrestling).

We’re proud of the way they competed and carried themselves over two tough days of competition.

Honored to have our wrestling program recognized at the Crimson and Gold Gala this year. It was a special night celebrating the hard work, dedication, and accomplishments of so many incredible Bronco athletes across all sports.

We’re proud to have had several athletes and members of our program nominated and recognized, along with team honors that reflect the commitment this group has shown all season long. Wrestling is a sport that demands discipline, resilience, and sacrifice, and it’s rewarding to see our athletes celebrated for the work they put in every day.

Congratulations to all of our nominees and award recipients, and congratulations as well to all of the other athletes, teams, coaches, and programs recognized throughout the night. It was truly a great year to be a Bronco athlete.
