I have a few afternoon and evening training spots open! 💪

If you’re looking for a place to get stronger, move better, and finally have some structure and accountability with your health — I have room for a few more women.

This isn’t a gym membership where you’re handed a key and left to figure it out.

You’ll have your workouts planned for you, coaching while you train, and a program built around YOUR starting point — whether you’re brand new to strength training, getting back into it after a long break, or working around limitations that make exercise a little more complicated.

Training is semi-private, with no more than a few women scheduled at a time, so you still get plenty of individual coaching without the pressure or atmosphere of a big gym.

I currently have just a few openings in my afternoon and evening schedule Monday–Thursday.

Cold and flu season is here 🤧

And sometimes the hardest part isn’t being sick — it’s figuring out how to get back into your normal routine afterward.

You might be well enough to go back to work and do normal life stuff…but your energy still isn’t quite there.

This is NOT the time to try to “make up” for everything you missed.

Start smaller.

If you normally work out for 45 minutes, maybe your first workout back is 20–30.
Use lighter weights. Take longer rests. Skip the finisher.

Keep meals simple and focus on getting regular meals, protein and fluids back in — not trying to eat “perfectly.”

And if your body is telling you it needs another recovery day? Take it. A week of being sick doesn’t erase your progress.

The goal isn’t to pick up exactly where you left off. The goal is simply to start moving toward your normal routine again.

Sometimes 50% is exactly what your body needs before it’s ready for 100%.

See those 3-pound dumbbells in the front? That’s where one of my clients started a year ago.

I recently asked a client who has now been training with me for a full year to look back at where she started and what has changed.

When I asked about her biggest win, she didn’t give me a number on the scale.

She said:

“Sticking to the commitments and following through.”

THAT is a win.

She went from starting with 3- and 5-pound hand weights to using 10s and 12s. She’s strength training twice a week. She’s more comfortable and confident using weights, adjusting them and knowing proper form.

And after a year, strength training isn’t something she’s trying to start anymore.

It’s something she does.

My favorite part might be what she would tell another woman considering investing in herself:

“Go for it! You can’t go backwards, only forwards and Nicole will make it fun!”

I’ll happily take that review! ❤️

Congratulations on one full year of getting stronger, showing up and following through. I’m excited to see what year two brings!

😄 And now back to our regularly scheduled programming…

Here’s your random fitness fact for the day:

You don’t actually have to be sore after a workout for it to have “worked.”

Soreness is mostly your body responding to something new or different — not a report card on how effective your workout was.

You can have a fantastic strength workout, wake up the next morning feeling perfectly normal, and still be getting stronger.

So no, walking down the stairs sideways the next day is NOT required. 😂

Carry on!

A quick note and apology to anyone who may have seen inappropriate or unwanted comments/activity on posts on my business page.

A group/page with supposed Alexandria ties has recently been interacting with posts on my page, as well as posts from other Alexandria-area businesses.

I have reported and blocked the page and will continue to remove any unwanted activity from my business page.

If you’re a local business owner and notice similar activity on your page, I’d encourage you to use Facebook’s report and block features as well.

I work hard to keep this page focused on fitness, health, our clients, and our community—and that’s exactly where it’s going to stay. 🙂

I recently got asked “what does it actually feel like to have Nicole as your coach?” and I had to share my answer!

“I’m encouraging, down-to-earth, and pretty straightforward. I take your goals seriously, but I don’t believe the process has to feel serious all the time. There’s plenty of room for humor, real conversations, and being human.

I’m the coach who will cheer you on when you’re doing well, help you regroup when things go sideways, and gently call you out when you’re getting in your own way. I’m not interested in guilt, shame, or making you feel like you disappointed your coach because you had a rough week.

I’m curious by nature, so I ask a lot of questions. I want to understand what’s behind a struggle rather than immediately telling you to try harder. Sometimes the solution is more accountability. Sometimes it’s changing the plan. And sometimes we discover that the goal we were chasing wasn’t really the right goal in the first place.

Expect support, honesty, humor, and a coach who genuinely wants to figure this out with you!”

Happy Labor Day weekend! 🇺🇸

Whether you’re traveling, camping, spending time with family, tackling projects at home, or doing absolutely nothing productive for three days… I hope you have a great one!

Eat the food. Enjoy the people. Stay up too late. Sleep in if you can. Get outside. Do whatever makes your long weekend feel like a long weekend.

And if somewhere between now and Tuesday you decide, “You know what? I think I’m ready to finally do something for ME…”

Perfect.

I’ll be back in the studio Tuesday and happy to answer any questions before you sign up!

Have a safe and wonderful Labor Day weekend! ❤️

I took the week away from the studio… and apparently decided to take the week away from social media too. 😂

No posts. No trying to think of something clever to say. No worrying about whether I “should” be doing something for the business.

I just spent the week doing my own things.

Farm stuff. Home stuff. Outside stuff. A little puttering around. A little doing absolutely nothing productive. 😆

And you know what?

It was nice.

Sometimes taking care of yourself looks like getting your workout in, eating a decent meal and going to bed on time.

And sometimes it looks like giving yourself permission to step away from the things that constantly ask for your attention.

The studio will be back open next week.

The social media posts will return.

And I’ll be coming back after a week of simply being Nicole for a while. ❤️

We’ve got a lot happening at Make Fitness Fun 4 You right now!

Strong 4 Life officially wrapped up its first week!
This group is getting started with the basics—learning how to strength train safely, building confidence, and proving that you don’t have to already be “in shape” to start getting stronger.

And now that we’re settled into the new studio, I’m opening up NEW morning training hours!

☀️ Strong + Independent — specifically for women 70+
Monday–Thursday | 9–11 AM availability

This is personal training designed for women who want to stay strong, capable, steady on their feet, and independent for as long as possible. It comes with a special daytime price point, too: $199/month with a 12-month commitment or $229/month for 6 months.

And for women looking for more comprehensive personal training, nutrition and wellness coaching, I also have a few afternoon/evening openings available.

Different ages. Different starting points. Different goals.
But the same idea: meet you where you are and help you build strength for the life you actually want to live.

Want to see which option might fit you?
