People often think dog training is about teaching commands.

Sit.
Stay.
Come.

Those things matter...

But what we're really building is communication.

A dog who chooses to look to their person.

A person who learns how to listen to their dog.

Everything else grows from there.

Sometimes it looks like a handshake.

Sometimes it looks like trust.

At Kindred Spirits, we think they're often the very same thing. ❤️🐾

Every graduating class has its personalities...
This one had the star tackle and the prom queen. 😄🐾
Koda, our gentle giant, has all the size and presence in the world—but underneath it all is a sweet, thoughtful boy who worked hard every single week.
And then there's Frida...the Grand Dame herself. Elegant, confident, just the right amount of opinionated, and affectionately known at home as "Buffalo Bill." 👑
As summer arrived, the rest of the class headed off for vacations and other adventures, leaving the star tackle and the prom queen to finish the semester together.
And honestly...we don't think either of them minded one bit.
In fact...we're pretty sure there may have been a little puppy romance brewing from day one. ❤️😉
We're not saying they exchanged love notes during class...but if this class had a yearbook, Koda would definitely have been voted "Most Likely to Carry Frida's Books." 😂🐾
Whether it was puppy love or simply mutual admiration, they encouraged one another through every lesson and reminded us that learning is even more fun with a good friend by your side.
A very special thank you to Frida's mom for creating these absolutely adorable graduation paddles! 🎉 We love them, and we have a feeling they're about to become a Kindred Spirits graduation tradition.
Congratulations, Koda and Frida! We're so proud of everything you've accomplished—and of the wonderful people at the other end of each leash.

Meet Pivot. 🖤

Some dogs make an entrance.

Others simply look at you...and suddenly you can't look away.

With her sleek black coat, striking amber eyes, and those incredible ears, Pivot has a presence that's hard to miss. She looks a little like a tiny panther—but don't let her beauty fool you. She's incredibly bright, athletic, and has plenty of prey drive.

The wonderful thing is that her mom understands exactly who Pivot is.

Rather than trying to change her, she's focused on building a relationship with her—learning how Pivot thinks, what motivates her, and how to become the teammate she needs.

Because that's what great training really looks like.

It's not about creating the easiest dog.

It's about building the strongest relationship with the dog you have.

Once you have that, the sky's the limit.

Trust opens the door to communication.
Communication builds confidence.
And together...there's very little a dog and their person can't accomplish.

We're so proud of everything Pivot and her mom are building together. ❤️🐾

He has a remarkable way of reading each dog, helping them feel safe, and meeting them exactly where they are. His kindness and skill are truly something special.

A heartfelt thank you as well to our wonderful volunteers, **Sue and Rick**, who generously give up their weekend year after year to support this important training. Whether they're helping everything run smoothly behind the scenes, welcoming clients, or simply bringing warmth and encouragement throughout the day, they make a tremendous difference. Your generosity, dedication, and love for dogs never go unnoticed—we truly couldn't do it without you.
