Eliteteam Visalia

18 years ago in June Elite Team Visalia opened up in a small location, with 900 sq. ft of mats,no lights,no coolers....The goal was to teach jiu jitsu and create world class jiu jitsu athletes in an environment that was open and welcoming to anyone who wanted to train. We brought structure and discipline to our training style,inspired by our Judo roots. Now,in 2026, 18 years later,we are in a modern, air conditioned building, nearly 4000 sq. ft of mats,jiu jitsu and judo classes all day....morning until late evenings,and 10 affiliate academies spread across California and the U.S.

At Elite Team Visalia we teach the drop knee seoinage as part of our jiu jitsu and judo classes, but we don't just show you the general steps,we show set ups to make it easier and more efficient.

First, we practice it from a Kenka Yotsu stance. As the tori has a left hand grip and stance,the uke has a right hand grip and stance. We have them do a fast,explosive feint to get their opponent to move in the direction they want ,and then switch directions into a right side drop knee seoinage.

Judo throws are taught in the curriculum of our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes and in our Judo only classes. O Uchi Gari,or major inside trip is demonstrated here. We teach the technical aspects of the throws and the theoretical aspect of throws. Our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program is IBJJF certified and our Judo program is USJA certified. Instructors are background checked,safe sport coach certified and concussion protocol certified.
