Please help us welcome Garrett Benninger to the TIDE coaching staff!

We're excited to have Garrett Benninger join TIDE Swimming as the Lead Coach for Senior Bronze and Age Group Bronze Middle, while also assisting with Age Group Bronze Elementary at our Mt. Trashmore site.

Garrett brings a diverse background in competitive swimming, coaching, and service. A former standout swimmer at Riverside City College and California Baptist University, he earned All-American honors in the 400 IM, 200 Backstroke, and three relays. He later returned to his alma mater as head coach, leading the boys team to its first league championship while coaching multiple record-setting athletes.

After six years serving our country as a U.S. Coast Guard Electronics Technician and Boat Rescue Swimmer, Garrett relocated to Virginia Beach and is excited to bring his passion, energy, and experience back to the pool deck.

We're thrilled to have Garrett helping develop the next generation of TIDE swimmers.

We are beyond excited to welcome Josh Fleagle as TIDE Swimming’s Director of Applied Performance!

Josh brings an incredible level of experience to our program:
🏅 Ohio State All-American
🏆 Big Ten Champion (200 Freestyle)
🇺🇸 4-Time U.S. Olympic Trials Qualifier

But Josh is much more than an accomplished athlete. He has dedicated his career to understanding how swimmers develop, learn, and perform at every stage. His passion for technical excellence and athlete development makes him the perfect addition as we continue to elevate TIDE Swimming.

Josh will work alongside our coaching staff to strengthen programming, refine teaching techniques, and help create a consistent, world-class experience for every TIDE swimmer across all of our sites. You’ll also see him leading clinics, educating athletes and parents, and helping shape the future of our program.

This is an exciting step forward as we continue building something special.

What a week in Greensboro! Our TIDE swimmers wrapped up an outstanding championship meet with incredible performances, personal milestones, and team success.

Top 16 Finishes
• Charlie Taylor – 6th in the 200 IM while setting a new TIDE team record.
• Maris Marchione – 8th in the 50 Butterfly and earned a Speedo Summer Junior National qualifying time, 12th in 100 Butterfly
• Liza Cutchins – 11th in 100 Breaststroke.
• Irene Stedje-Larsen – 15th in 100 Breaststroke.
• Girls 200 Medley Relay – Olivia Taylor, Irene Stedje-Larsen, Maria Marchione, and Liza Cutchins raced to a 7th-place finish.
• Girls 200 Freestyle Relay – Liza Cutchins, Maris Marchione, Olivia Taylor, and Irene Stedje-Larsen raced to a 10th-place finish.
• Boys 800 Freestyle Relay – Adam Giersch, Charlie Taylor, Sam Cupito, and Thomas Everhart raced to a 6th-place finish.

As a team, TIDE placed 15th overall in the combined team standings, competing against some of the fastest clubs in the country.

Congratulations to all of our swimmers and coaches on an outstanding week of racing. From team records and national qualifying cuts to relay success and individual finals, this was a championship to be proud of. Thank you to our coaches, families, and supporters for helping make this week a success.

As we get ready to wrap up an absolutely amazing year, we brought some of our groups together for a fun-filled, high-energy celebration practice! 🎉🏊

Our AG Bronze, Elementary, Developmental Gold, and Developmental Silver swimmers came together for a special combined session focused on team spirit, excitement, and celebrating everything they’ve achieved this season.

This was a fantastic opportunity for swimmers to train side by side, make new friends, share plenty of laughs, and finish the year on a truly positive and memorable note.
