Fished the last Socks and Cookies - SAC tournament today and it started off good, caught 3 bass and 3 jacks then it went down hill from there. I stood up and went to prop my foot on the side of the kayak and overboard I went. The water was cold but not to bad the hard part was getting my fat rump back in the kayak then stripping all my wet clothes off so I could stay warm. I’m sore but I’m good so all is well. First incident kayak fishing and hope it’s the last.
Gentleman safe travels as you start making your way down south for the KBT-Kayak Bass Team Championship! We will be rooting for you all! Good luck, tight lines, and be safe. Most of all have fun and catch big fish 💪🔨 Keep that trophy in the East Region!

Went down to Alabama last week to fish the Kayak Bass Fishing Trail Series Championships and what a week of fishing it was. Pre fishing went better than expected. I fished some history, checked out some new stuff and found two areas holding a bunch of fish. The beautiful part of it was the bite windows were at two completely different times of day. Going into day 1, I was able to get a limit in the first hour to hour and a half and was able to cull a couple of times before the bite started to slow down. Made a move to the second spot and within a half an hour found the fish and started catching again. Trading the lead back and forth a few times with Jimmy McClurkan was exciting. I was sitting at 92” with 30 minutes to go when I got a 19.75” and 20” bass on back to back cast to end day 1 with 96.25”.
If it aint broke, don’t fix it. So on day 2, I went back to the same area and the bite started an hour later than day 1, but it didn’t disappoint. It took some time but by 9 am I had 4 fish and then it happened again back to back fish going 18.75” and 21.25”. I could barely contain my excitement at this point. I caught one more upgrade before leaving and headed to the next spot. I caught a bunch of fish in the 15-17” range culling a 1/4 to a 1/2 inch at a time before landing my last upgrade and finishing the day at 93.50” for a 2 day total of 189.75” and winning the tournament and finishing in 2nd place in the Angler of the Year race. Everything came together, fished clean for the most part and had the best tournament and time of my life chasing the green fish! I think I wore the Cashion chattergrass rod out last week but it put in the work and did what it was designed to do. Huge thank you to Doug White at Townscapes Commercial Landscaping for sponsoring me this year and for being a great friend for the last 10+ years. Thanks to Chad Hoover Austin, Joe for everything and hope to see everyone next year at the NC!
