A morning dedicated to the people who help keep our community growing. 🌱

This past Saturday, Indian River County Parks, Recreation, & Conservation had the pleasure of hosting our Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast at the IG Center—and it was a wonderful reminder of just how much our volunteers mean to us.

From our Scrub Jay efforts and Conservation volunteers assisting with plantings, to those supporting athletic programs and helping bring special events to life, our volunteers play an important role across every corner of PRC. There are countless moments when we simply couldn’t accomplish what we do without their time, talents, and willingness to lend a helping hand.

The morning was filled with laughter, smiles, delicious food, and a shared love for Indian River County and the people who call it home. A special thank you to Einstein Bros. Bagels Vero Beach for providing breakfast and beverages, along with our own team members who added a few homemade dishes to the table.

This is what community is about. It’s about showing up, giving back, playing a role in the prosperity of our region, and recognizing the stewards who help make it all happen.

To every PRC volunteer: thank you for being part of the flow that keeps our community moving forward. Your contribution matters, and we’re grateful for every one of you. 🌿

🌪️ Learning About Hurricanes with Little Explorers! 🌪️

Today, our local young explorers dove into the science of hurricanes, discovering how these massive storms form and work, how wildlife responds and stays safe, and what we can do to better prepare.

The learning continued with a special book reading and a fun, weather-themed craft that brought the lesson to life! 📚🌦️

Join us for an exciting, kid-friendly exploration of the science behind nocturnal critters! Kids will discover how amazing animals navigate the dark, stay safe in the wild, and what makes them so unique. The session will also feature a special book reading and a fun, animal-themed craft!

🥎 FALL SOFTBALL IS ALMOST HERE! 🥎

Ready to hit the field? Registration for our 2026 Fall Softball Leagues at Dick Bird Park will be closing within the next couple of weeks! Don’t wait until the last minute to get your team in the game.

Choose from Monday Men’s, Tuesday Coed, or Wednesday Men’s leagues. Each season includes 16 games plus an end-of-season tournament, with two games played per night.

Games begin the week of September 28

Ready to take your game to the next level? The Footwork First Fall Basketball Camp is designed for boys and girls ages 8–13 looking to build confidence, sharpen their skills, and become more game-ready!

This 4-day camp focuses on advanced movement, scoring, and skill development, with each week building toward the next:

👟 Week 3: Footwork & Body Control
🏆 Week 4: Gameday

October 1, 8, 15 & 22
$100 for all 4 days

Led by Coach Joshua Armenteros, this is an opportunity for young athletes to put in the work, expand their skill set, and prepare for their next level of play.

It’s almost time to hit the court! The Youth Volleyball All Skills Clinic kicks off Tuesday, September 8, giving young athletes the chance to learn the game, sharpen their skills, build confidence, and HAVE FUN!

Whether they’re picking up a volleyball for the first time or looking to take their game to the next level, this four-week clinic covers the fundamentals of serving, passing, setting, hitting, footwork, positioning, and game strategy.
