What the school system and our parents never taught us…
The art of working out just enough and eating like an adult. One who never has to diet and weighs less, not more…

In 1970, the obesity rate in the US was around 15%.

Today it’s over 40%.

We didn’t get less disciplined.

We got more information.

More rules. More plans. More programs. More tracking. More restriction. More starting over.

And somehow — the more we were told about how to eat — the further we got from actually knowing how.

I am a Gen X woman.

I grew up in the era of fat-free everything, counting calories, and believing that if your body wasn’t cooperating — you simply weren’t trying hard enough.

I gained 50 pounds in high school and spent the next 30 years trying to figure out why my body wouldn’t do what I told it to.

Restriction. Obsession. Eating disorders. Diet after diet after diet.

All of it passed down — not with bad intentions, but with bad information.

Generational diet culture dressed up as health.

Here’s what nobody taught me — and what I now know with complete certainty:

My body was never the problem. God set me up to thrive, diet free.

The information was.

When I stopped fighting my body and started nourishing it —

Everything changed.

The weight released organically.

The war ended.

And I had more energy, more clarity, and more space than I had in decades.

Space for the goals I had been putting off.

The business. The next chapter. The life I kept telling myself I’d get to someday.

It only took me 49 years to figure out after decades of dieting, supplements, ‘healing’, overthinking and overworking, that being in the best health and shape of my life could be this simple even in perimenopause …

I dieted for over 30 years. And when I finally stopped and actually looked at the people who were diet free as well as those living the longest, healthiest lives on the planet — the Blue Zones — they weren’t doing anything I was taught to do.

No high protein targets.
No tracking.
No rules about carbs.

They eat until they’re about 80% full and then they stop. The Okinawans call it Hara Hachi Bu. I call it simply trusting your body and God’s gift of hunger cues— which, by the way, none of my diets ever taught me to do.

Their protein intake sits around 9-10% of total calories. Mostly plants. Beans. Potatoes. Vegetables. Simple food. Single ingredients. This is what is most interesting. When I anchored my slim identity — when I decided that was just who I am now — one of the things that created the most relief wasn’t more protein or fewer carbs. It was eating more beans and potatoes. The most unsexy, unfashionable foods you can eat. And my body responded like it had been waiting for them.
Because it probably had. The longest living people on earth aren’t afraid of carbs. They’re not optimizing. They’re just eating real food, stopping when they’re satisfied, and getting on with their lives.

And this is available to all of us, which is the best news ever🤍

I finally stopped trying to fix my body AND decided it was time to start trusting her. I was done self sabotaging.

For decades I thought my body was the problem to solve. So I gave it everything — my money, my energy, and the one thing I can never get back: my TIME. Years of Monday restarts and mental math running in the background while my real life happened somewhere off to the side.

What I realized is, the thing about the diet doom loop. It’s not really the money, though that’s tens of thousands over a lifetime. It’s the years. It’s how much of your one precious brain gets rented out to the scale.

And time is the one thing no program, no pill, no plan can ever refund you.

The day I stopped fighting my body and started trusting it, everything simplified. I stopped chasing the trends — the powders, the protocols, the “optimized” everything — and started eating simple, single-ingredient foods my body actually recognizes. Potatoes. Beans. Fruit. Plants. Real food that doesn’t need a label to explain itself. Turns out my body was never confused. The diet industry just needed me to think it was.

And that’s when I got all of it back. The time. The energy. The clear head. THAT became the foundation I built the rest of my life on — the business, the dreams, the purpose I kept putting off.

That’s why I call the body the total asset. It was never about becoming smaller. It was about the enormous, spacious life waiting on the other side of the struggle where building dreams and goals begins the body became next level.

Rich beyond words isn’t the weight I released. It’s the time I got back.

To think of ourselves like an asset, more often than not is how we can release weight without the drama. The difference between a woman that lives in asset energy versus non asset energy, is the woman in asset energy SEES how she is getting in her own way, faces it bravely, doesn’t avoid it, allows the discomfort and gets really good at feeling the uncomfortable feelings of growth. She is willing to feel all her feelings, which ultimately breeds confidence.
