Grandmaster Kyeong Han, a 7th Degree Black Belt, has developed a successful program that involves teaching kids disciplinary actions and self-defense. Taekwondo is a highly regarded type of martial arts that focuses on teaching kids to respect their elders and themselves. Our program insists on teaching kids to develop self-confidence and respect to grow into nurturing minds that motivate others.

Jokes aside, deciding to compete at a national level after a 10 year break is brave.

Ms. Taylor has done just that.

She no longer has her teenager stamina, or limber knee and hip joints. However, what age and maturity has given her is knowledge that starting again is a slow(er), methodical process. Especially when Ms. Taylor works full time in finance, and lives with type 1 diabetes.

HWCTA is proud of our instructor and athlete!

Congratulations to our athletes representing Han’s World Class Taekwondo Academy at the national level!

Last week Ms. Taylor, Ms. Milana and Roman traveled to Fort Lauderdale, Florida to compete at AAU Taekwondo Nationals.

Ms. Taylor’s last international tournament was 10 years ago and we’re so proud of her jumping back into competition. Her sport poomsae division had 43 competitors!

Ms. Milana won her first sparring match (2-0) and lost her second match by a very close margin. She fought well in both fights, but time was not on her side in the second match.

Roman had a very competitive sport poomsae division and secured a silver medal🥈, and then consistently received 3-0 scores in traditional poomsae, winning gold! 🥇

Also, these athletes couldn’t have done it without the guidance from their coaches, Ms. Chandra (poomsae) and Ms. Taylor (sparring). Kamsahamnida!

If you are interested in seeing what it takes to train for competition poomsae and/or sparring, please see Master Matthew for additional information.

Athletes, Coach and Davis parents spent a week together in Ft Lauderdale, FL — this is what we’ve learned

There’s a fine line between training and having fun and we know how to blur that line! Don’t worry, Ms. Chandra makes sure we train first.

We had to test our options out while the social media crew travels to Ft Lauderdale, Florida to compete at the AAU Taekwondo Nationals next week. We think it’s safe to say that Master Matthew should stick to what he knows best (hint: it is NOT videoing).
