PNW LIGHTNING ⚡is likely this week as the remnant energy and moisture from Post-Tropical Storm Elida moves into the region! This will act to destabilize the atmosphere, leading to the potential for thunderstorm development. The thunderstorm risk begins Tuesday afternoon in central Oregon, western, central and eastern Oregon Wednesday afternoon, southwestern Washington Wednesday evening into Wednesday night, and western, central and eastern Washington Thursday. Similar to this most recent lightning outbreak, of concern is the thin nature of the atmospheric moisture that could lead to dry lightning or low-rain-producing thunderstorms, sparking fires.
